Virtual Villagers Tips, Cheats and Hints

Beginners Guide to Virtual Villagers #1 - Food

The first thing that you should be worried about is the food. Get a villager or two to start collecting berries when the game begins. Later on you will get to fish. If the food runs out for a long time then your villagers will get sick and eventually starve to death. It is very easy to have all of your virtual villagers die early on in the game.

Beginners Guide to Virtual Villagers #2 - Shelter

You will notice that there is already a partially built shelter when you first get to the island. Looking at one of your villagers you will find that one of them is a builder. Get that builder to start working on housing and shelter. The more shelter you have, the more kids you can have.

Beginners Guide to Virtual Villagers #3 - Babies

Do not have a bunch of kids to early in the game. Children eat as much as the adults and this is a quick way to run out of food. To get a child simply drag an adult male to an adult female or vice versa. It can take a few tries before they have a baby. The way the game works is that you drag one adult to the other and they go inside a hut.

If you are lucky they come out and the woman is holding a baby. This can be time consuming, especially if the two are far from the hut. To save time just drag them onto one another and keep an eye on the total amount of people that you have. Once a baby is conceived you will instantly see your total number of villagers in your Virtual Villagers game go up. Also be careful about who you choose to be a mother because if you choose an important member such as the only farmer, then that person won't do anything for 2 years in the Virtual Villagers game except nurse the baby. This is about 60 minute's real time.

Beginners Guide to Virtual Villagers #4 - Children

After the mother stops nursing the babies they are toddlers who begin to run around and explore the island. Children cannot work until they are 14 or 15 and they cannot have kids of their own until they are 18 years old. Throughout the game you will notice a mushroom every now and then. Kids in Virtual Villagers are the only ones who can pick up the mushrooms and use them as food for the tribe. Also watch what the children are doing because as they explore the island they stop to look at different areas. These areas are usually hints to the puzzles that you have to solve.

Beginners Guide to Virtual Villagers #5 Sick Villagers

When a villager is sick you have to heal them quickly or they will eventually die. Anyone can heal another member of the tribe. Simply drag a villager to the sick villager and they will begin to heal them. In most cases the sick person won't allow them to help but after a few tries they will begin to heal. If they keep resisting, simply find another person to heal the sick tribe member. You will know when a villager is sick because you will hear coughing and sneezing. Just do a quick run through of the village profiles and you will see that one or more tribe members are sick.

  • Gather food first.
  • Build shelter next.
  • Don't have too many children early on.
Virtual Villagers is an exciting game that works in real time. You can play, turn off the game and hours later to see a lot of things have changed. Pause the game if you will be gone long. If not all your villagers will die.
