First, you are the master. Dogs need to establish their position in the pack. You must assert yourself as the dominant member of the family. If you give into your dog's bad behavior you are in a sense accepting that the dog is the boss. This is the most common issue with pet misbehavior.
You must take into consideration that if you have a puppy, puppies are mischievous. A crate is wonderful for containing the puppy and training him to listen and obey. A crate is said to provide a safe secure feeling for the puppy. Puppies need to frequently use the restroom. Take this in to consideration. When training your puppy, you can invest in puppy training pads to help prevent accidents. You should take your puppy out on average every two hours. This will dramatically reduce indoor accidents!
Your dog may have behavioral issues like constant barking, or getting out of control on walks. First consider purchasing a choker chain. When bad behavior occurs place the choker chain high on the neck, don't get crazy and choke the hell out of the dog, but illustrate the point that you are in charge and you do not appreciate this bad behavior. You must be assertive, authorities and calm. Dogs can sense your emotions. To have a well-mannered and well-behaved dog you will have to work with your dog. You must teach the dog how he should behave to please you.
If you are unable to devote the time to training a dog, maybe you should consider an older dog, or hiring a trainer. Obedience School is always an option. A dog can be a wonderful addition to any family. A dog can help ease depression and teach responsibility. Please consider your situation, such as the size of your home, and your work schedule before purchasing a dog. Talk to a pet counselor at your local pet store to determine what type of dog will be a good match for your life style.
