Behind the Bleachers: Your Best Make Out Sesh Stories from High School

I'd rush down the hall after my third period class. If at all possible, I'd say I had to go to the bathroom so I could leave a few minutes early. There was this special staircase in my high school. It was long enough to be able to remain unseen until someone turned the corner to use it, either at the top or the bottom, and hollow enough that you could hear footsteps before they reached either one.

That is where I would meet my boyfriend. All of our 16-year-old lust and longing after being apart all day would take hold and we'd have a make out session right there, in school, always keeping an ear out for the telltale squeaky loafers of our principal that loved to roam the halls to catch rebels such as us. I'd cling to his leather jacket as he held me by the back of my head, pushing me against the wall. As soon as the bell would ring, our kisses got even deeper, getting as much out of those few moments as we could, before we were bombarded by fellow classmates. We'd disengage just as someone turned the corner and I'd continue down the stairs to my locker, while my boyfriend went to his next period.

There were other places in high school that were perfect for make out sessions. The staircase behind the old gym that no one but the "coolest" of people ventured to when we were stuck indoors for group phys ed. Or there was the one corner of the bleachers in the new gym that a teacher or other adult would literally have to interrupt the game or pep rally and crawl over seats to get to. But that hallway will forever be a favorite in my mind. It was the perfect mixture of naughtiness, the thrill that we could easily get caught, at least easier than the other couples who chose "safer" spots.

Fifteen years later, I still grab onto my now husband in hallways whenever I can, sneaking in a make out session in between passing by each other to do the laundry or tend to other household matters, giggling that our kids may catch us. We also tend to have a moment in empty grocery or department store aisles. Our kisses are the same as they were back then, fervent and trying to savor the special feeling the moment offers, tame by today's standards, but still rush-worthy for us.
