Behind the Scenes - Big Brother 9 - 2/22/08

February 22, 2008 was a historic day for Big Brother. Two Houseguests had to be rushed to the hospital for medical emergencies, one of them almost dying. The day was also the day of the big fight over who said what about Shelia's yeast infection.

The day started out as any other normal day in a Big Brother house, with plotting and planning and competitions.

Chelsia and James hatched a plan in the middle of the night which they claim will turn the house upside down. They call this plan "Operation Epic Ruthless," and are only including their closest allies (Josh and Sharon) in their plan. When everyone wakes up in the morning, it is still raining and nobody wants to compete in the POV in the rain. They had a meeting where they chose from the bag who was going to compete in the competition besides the nominees and HOH. Josh and Sharon were chosen. All the morning conversation was about the competition.

After the POV competition, we learn quickly that Josh and Sharon won. They go upstairs with James and Chelsia to discuss how close the competition was. From their talking, it sounds as if Alex and Amanda were pretty close to beating them. Now, they talk about who has to go. James and Chelsia want Matt and Natalie to go this week. Sharon and Josh want Alex and Amanda to go. Chelsia says that since Alex and Amanda will be on slop for the whole week, they will be weaker and less likely to win the HOH competition. Josh expresses his distrust in Adam. He has a feeling that Adam is up to something. Josh and Sharon tell James and Chelsia that they are not going to use the Veto, but they do not want anyone else to know because they want Shelia to "Sweat."

Prior to dinner, Adam came up to talk to James and asked what Josh and Sharon were going to do. James told him that he did not know. Adam said they should stick to Operation Condor. James told him not to worry about it.

During dinner, they all talked about how cool the competition looked and that it was themed after the CBS show "Jericho."

After dinner, the big fight broke out. Shelia went off on Allison, thinking Allison was talking about her behind her back. The whole thing was over Shelia's yeast infection, but Shelia blew it up into something completely different. After the fight, Shelia, Matt, Natalie and Amanda sit and rehash the fight. Josh, James and Chelsia forgo the drama and relax in the hot tub.

Amanda and Natalie walk into the kitchen to get something to eat and Amanda begins to feel ill. She starts to walk back towards the bedrooms when she faints dead away in the hallway. Natalie rushes to her and yells for help. At the same time, Allison is having a severe allergic reaction to something she ate. Her face, neck and tongue have swollen and she is covered with hives. Alex finds her and rushes to get her into the Diary Room so she can be taken to the hospital. During these events, I became aware of them and immediately began putting together as much information as I could gather. The next morning, I wrote another article about my personal experiences with having hypoglycemia and how, from my experiences, I was expecting something like this to happen sooner or later with slop. While Amanda and Allison were in the hospital, Chelsia assured Operation Condor was still in effect, regardless of whether they came back to the house or not.

Natalie begins to feel ill and went to bed with a migraine at eight-thirty. At nine-forty-five, she felt worse and could not eat. She had a fever and a headache. Fifteen minutes later she felt as if she would vomit, so Matt checked her forehead and said she had a fever and he went looking for a bucket for her to be sick in.

Shelia has been talking during all this stuff about how she cannot take it anymore and that she wants to go home. Adam is snoring, she is too hungry to sleep and Big Brother will not give her any Tylenol PM or even earplugs.

After Amanda and Allison got back and settled in, they went into the Diary Room to film footage about their emergencies. When Allison came out of her session in the Diary Room, Big Brother had sent some pills to Shelia to help her sleep.

Before Allison and Ryan go to bed for the night, he tells her that she cannot talk to Shelia about the game anymore.

While the rest of the house is sleeping, James and Chelsia stay up for hours talking about their lives growing up. They kiss and James asks Chelsia why she keeps turning to the side when they kiss. She told him that when the lights are off, it might look like they were having sex and she promised her parents she would not do that. James said he would go into the Diary Room to ask her parents' permission. After they laughed, they settled into more pillow talk until they fell asleep cuddling.
