White faced
Staring at the ceiling
Black cloth eyes, hidden thought
Black nose, and black lipped
In a bulb of white.
Present brings a sniffle
Stuffing and stitches hold
Tears and snot
Prisoners of a life sentence.

Prisoners of a life sentence.
Timeless moments pass
I watch my ward
Watch light drain and defect.
I watch my ward
Infect and destroy.
Tears and snot
Held captive.
I was there at birth
My creation is watching.
The road not walked
By brown legs
Books never held
By brown hands
Watching is my prison.
Can I pray? Play?
The morning has come
Beautiful light fills junk
Cleansing
Dirt and underwear mix
My ward is free.
He packs all things
The box is old
Painted and wood.
Prison is liberated
The world has changed.
My ward is free.
