Being Creative is Fun, but I Need a Day Job

Thoughts on Not Wanting to Make a Living as an Artist

Something I enjoy doing for fun is making jewelry out of beads. I have gotten compliments on them and I have even contemplated making it as a jewelry business. But the idea of making beaded jewelry 40 hours a week and then selling them seems a little hard. But I enjoy being creative for my own enjoyment. Something I thought of was selling them on etsy.com but have had limited success with that.

I enjoy being creative. But it can be expensive as a hobby. I trained in art for 8 years in school and can draw pretty well. And I have contemplated all sorts of things. But its hard in this economy to sell anything with so many people out of work and the out look dismal.

Youtube is very exciting and it is an excellent way to market your ideas. But I am afraid I am unsure if it would help me with my love of design and writing. I thought of making logos for people. But I am unsure if I would be able to make it work. I think that logos are very important. And I have even come up with an idea or two for my own business for dog walking. But I don't like working with dogs.

Sometimes it is fun to make something and having a piece that no one else has. It is fun being unique. Some people even make money recycling other people's clothes and altering them. I have made some altered T-shirts with some good results. It is all very good for the environment and it can be economical if you do it yourself.

Being creative is very rewarding and I like writing poetry and drawing. You don't really make money writing poetry.
I have thought about my options and I enjoy working with children, so I thought if I could become a speech therapist, I could keep my art a hobby. I don't need to be a famous designer. It seems like you need to be famous to be a designer. That seems to be why famous actors go into design. I might have gotten the nickname J-lo for poetry, but usually people talk about my looks more than my artistic achievements. Still, I do enjoy being creative. And I hope to continue. I just don't know if it will be as a professional in the creative field or if I'll just be a speech therapist with a hobby. But time will tell. I had a dream that I got into Montclair. We'll see if its true.

I have tried to connect my love of beauty to a career. But I find it isn't something I want to pursue anymore.

I bet you will be able to succeed at whatever you chose to do! You sound very smart and creative! I love writing, too...but it is not paying the bills!
