Being a Horse Riding Teacher for Extra Income Money

Jane Benitez
Have you ever thought about teaching children? And do you have a passion for riding horses? Yes, you guessed it. You can actually combine those two desires to make money. The best part is that you neither have to be an expert nor need to own your own stables or horses.

This could be the perfect job for a housewife who longs to get back in the saddle for the love of horse riding. So if you have grown up caring for horses, riding them and showing them, then why not use that knowledge to your advantage? You can earn a very good income and even more as you become known in your field. You can offer to teach not only children but people from all ages regardless of their current riding skills. You can even offer special summer camps for school children to earn some extra cash.

To start, you need to advertise often and keeping the costs in mind. An important suggestion for any new businesses is that you need to advertise in yellow pages and inform your friends of your business. This should be enough to get you started and in no time your classes will start getting filled up.

As I mentioned above, you don't even need your own stable. You can work at someone else's. You can use the stable owner's horses, equipment and land. They are already getting paid for the boarding and caring of the horses, so your costs will be almost zero. But you should strongly consider getting insurance as protection. You never know, and this is always a good decision for whatever business you run.

You can always find students in boarding stables. You will see that most would need a proper course in order to fully enjoy horse riding, so go ahead and look for students there. Don't worry. You won't have much competition because not every horse boarder would be eager to get into the teaching profession.

So if you like the idea so far and have some passion for horses, but you don't have experience. Then what? Not to worry, get some lessons yourself. If you are serious and determined you can work your way up to the position of a riding instructor. Getting advice and shadowing the pros is a good way to start.

After you have enough experience, start being creative. Offer a variety of package classes for different levels of students. You can setup the option of throwing a birthday party at the stables for a decent cost. Or you can offer to take a pony into town for a party. There are a lot of possibilities so think of what you want to give them.

This is indeed a great new business idea. So if you think you can turn your love for horses into a money making business that is both lucrative and comfortable, then by all means give it a try. It doesn't matter if you are a beginner. All you need is determination.
