Being a Single Dad is Awesome

Being a single dad is awesome. Spending time with the kids, and raising them they way that you feel is the proper way, without any type of interference, is a rewarding experience. Even though having two parents in the house to make decisions when it comes to raising the children can make things easier, it can also make it more difficult. When two parents have different ideas about raising children, and their moral beliefs are different, then parenting becomes a chore instead of being the joy that it should be.

Being a single dad is great because when you want to pick up and go do something, such as camping for the weekend, then you can do it without having to work around the schedule of someone else. I have found that this is the best part of being a single dad because I am very spontaneous, as our my kids, so if I wake up one day and want to call in for work so that I can take the kids on a road trip, then I simply do so. There is no one yelling in my ear about doing the responsible thing and going to work. There is no one tagging along with me and the kids complaining the whole time because they want to be somewhere else. And there is no one in the car trying to tell you how to drive, where to go, and when to stop. Being a single father makes you in the driver's seat, and even though the opinions of the children should be considered, the finally decision is left up to you, as the single dad.

Being a single dad also means that you know about everything that goes on in the child's life. If they are having trouble at school, then the teachers tell you directly. There is no in between people that could confuse the facts and blow the circumstance out of proportion. As we all know, any type of story, as it passes along from one person to the next, never stays the same. So a simple problem such as talking in class, could lead to a serious problem such as fighting and being disrespectful to the teachers and faculty.

Being a single dad, even though it can be trying at times, is a great and rewarding position to find yourself in. Raising the children the way that they should be raised, having the freedom to do as you please, and being able to make all the important decisions within your life, makes the job of parenting that much more satisfying.
