I was single last Valentine's Day and more than likely I'll be single this Valentine's, too. I am also one of those who notice those lovey-dovey displays.
I must say that during other holidays and celebrations, being single was never a problem. I have family and friends that I love and share my time with. I find it funny as to why I feel like such a loser in love when V-Day comes along. I've promised myself that this year will be different. I will not awake with resentment or envy in my heart. I will not make foul faces as couples pass me by hand-in-hand. I will not hide or whine when people at work receive gifts from their partners.
After much soul searching and talking to single and married friends, I've come to realize that V-Day can honestly be for a single person. I may have to tweak it a bit, but I will make it a Self-Love Day. I thought of the most five loving things I can do for myself and I will try those out this Valentine's Day. I will definitely report on how they went.
If you're single too, please feel free to try the list out and let me know how well you fared.
Write Yourself A Love Letter. Yes, I will write about the things I love about myself and then I will mail it to myself. I will find the prettiest stationery to do it on.
Send Yourself Flowers. I will go online and order my favorite roses to be delivered at work. I will be my own secret admirer. And they will look so pretty on my desk.
Eat Dinner Out With Single Friends. I will invite single friends (gals and guys) to a nice restaurant. We will have great food while talking about celebrity divorces.
Watch An Anti-Love Movie. I love The War of the Roses. This one definitely makes you rethink the marriage thing or anything close to it. And watching this on V-Day will make me feel liberated.
Treat Yourself To Sexy Undies. I'm a woman, and I want to feel sexy and desirable without a man, so buying sexy undies will boost my self-esteem. I will wear them to work.
I promise to do at least one thing on this list because I am worth it. What will you do?
