The first thing that you need to do is find a product that has appeal to people, and offers a decent commission for each sale. Most affiliate know-it-alls will tell you that you should promote products that are actually interesting and appealing to you personally, and they are right. This makes promoting these products much easier because you know more about them; maybe you have even used the product yourself.
There are many places to find affiliate programs to join. Some you can join right from the products main website and some you may have to join through a site like commissionjuntion.com or another similar site. There are many of these and a simple Google search will turn up hundreds.
Promoting your product is where affiliate marketing gets tricky. A website is an almost necessity of having a productive marketing scheme for any product. Your website can contain reviews and information about the product that will entice potential buyers and bring you more sales. You can promote on your site through text links, banners, personal reviews, and blogs.
Once you have a website up and going, you will somehow need to attract traffic to that website to convert visitors into sales. Sales can't be made unless there are customers, right?
There are quite a few ways of getting traffic to your website; I will tell you about two.
One of these is through Pay Per Click Search Engines. Using programs such as Google Adwords, your site is advertised through a text link that is displayed with relevant results from search engine users. When a search engine user clicks on your ad, they are brought to your site, and you are billed for the amount you bid on for each click. This form of advertising can be very expensive if done wrong, but also very effective if done properly. You don't want to be spending more promoting your product then you are making from it.
Another way of getting traffic to your webpage is to promote it through article directories and submission sites. You can write a simple article and distribute it throughout the web fairly quickly to get picked up by search engines and potentially bring you thousands of visitors. This generally does take some time, so you will have to be patient.
This information is just the tip of the iceberg for affiliate marketing. Soak in all the articles and tips that are out there on this subject and you can become very successful in affiliate marketing.

Post a CommentI looked into google adwords, but it seemed too risky to me. I did earn some money with google ads when I blogged at Blogcharm. I did not reach their $10.00 payout (Blog Charm's) so lost it, when I got rid of those blogs. When I started with AC, I did have the idea to promote my websites and/or affiliates through articles. Then I learned they have some rules about self-promotion. : > I would be interested in an article about how to distribute articles "fairly quickly" on the web. I definitely do not have digg appeal, which is the only source I am a bit familar with. : >
