Believing in Ones Dreams

Small Town Legend or Future Big Star?

*Shell*
In the small town of New Florence Pennsylvania is where it all began. His Name is Joshua Crusan. Since the age of five, Josh has had more passion for music than most grown adult musicians would in a life time. He began his musical interest by singing. Influenced by both his parents, whom are both in bands as well, he soon followed in their foots steps. By age nine he was singing and playing the Piano. At Age 13 josh mastered his love for singing and playing the piano as well as moving on to learning the art of the guitar, Bass, Drums, Cello, Ukulele, and other various instruments along the way.

Well rounded in instrumental playing, Josh then moved on to playing and singing as a solo artist for his high school. Ligonier Valley School District; Laurel Valley Middle/High School located in western Pennsylvania in the small town of New Florence Pennsylvania. Josh played in local talent shows, Spring Fling events, Lock Ins, and Graduation. Catching complete interest of his fellow peers, he moved on with the next step of his musical career/hobby.

Listening to his favorite styles of music; Punk rock, and folk music he became inspired to begin writing his own songs.

After about 4 to 5 years off, long hours, frustration, lack of sleep, what have you, Josh finally produced himself a CD or his work!

Josh says; "I have a CD out now, Picken 'n Grinnen called "What not to say while playing a banjo". It is based off of traditional songwriting in hopes for simple songs that everybody can enjoy. Josh says; "I am working on a CD right now with a full band (in which I play all the instruments, except banjo). It is still very traditional songwriting but this CD is a lot more rock and roll influenced. Every song has its own personality when it comes to the guitar work, lyrics, and different instruments used in the song. "

"Being a folk artist, I like to try different ways of playing guitar. Most folk artists like to use different guitar tunings, but I like to try different kinds of picks, different finger picking methods, different instruments and different ways to add my own rhythm while playing live shows, such as sticking a tambourine under my foot and tapping to the music to make a simulation snare drum. I recently bought a wooden block that you can plug into a PA system and as you tap your foot on that, it makes a "bassy" sound. Since my songs are simple, I like to think of witty ways to keep people sticking around to hear the songs."

"I sometimes play with my good friends Dan Sowers (Banjo & rhythm guitar) and Mike Sowers (Percussion). Most of the time, it's just my guitar while I play the tambourine with my foot. It's kind of a one man band thing. I hate not having percussion."

Josh recently broke up with a band called; The Sussex Pledge who played aggressive indie music. Josh stated" I loved that band and it will have a place in my heart forever."

Josh continues his music career as a solo artist, despite the devastating brake up of his fellow band members.

Josh continues to play quite often at a wonderful place called 709 Railroad Street, which is ironically located @ 709 Railroad Street in Johnstown Pennsylvania. It's a music / art space where bands from all over the country perform. Artists can also rent it out to promote their photography / art / poetry. It's a little slice of heaven on earth. Josh has also been on tour through Baltimore Maryland, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, and Hershey Pennsylvania.
Recently, he has been playing a lot of Open Mics in random bars, mostly in Ligonier Pennsylvania because there's not much call for a solo acoustic act.

Josh is currently working on a CD right now with a full band (in which he plays all the instruments, except banjo). It is still very traditional songwriting but this CD is a lot more rock and roll influenced. Every song has its own personality when it comes to the guitar work, lyrics, and different instruments used in the song.

An inspiration to all who knows this young musician he continues to pursue his dream in the music industry.
