Believing is Seeing

Celeste St. John
When I got saved, it was unlike anything I had ever heard of before. Sure, I was told storied by relatives of floating musical notes and eery sounds, but I know that was witchcraft. I knew about spirits entering into and possessing people, but when I got saved, I entered into a Spirit; the Holy Spirit, literally!

It was almost like entering into a dry mass of clouded water that I couldn't see. How does anyone describe a spirit, especially, a good one? Who can know the mind of God? Well, without the Bible that is, because He "wrote" it.

Afterwards, I discovered that not too many people had a similar encounter as I did. If they did, they didn't talk about it in wider known circles for fear of being ostracized, ridiculed or condemned. How does anyone describe a spirit, especially, a good one? Who can know the mind of God? Well, without the Bible that is, because He "wrote" it.

I had a schoolteacher that told me long ago that she took a pilgrimage to site where believers had witnessed one of the statues crying or bleeding and the site became swarming with people. She said a man touched the Holy Water fountain where the tears fell and his shriveled hand became well and whole again. Then, she relayed to the class about another time when her friend was about to get beat up in some parking lot or alley somewhere and he said, "In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to stop!" So one of the guys tried to throw the first punch but his swing froze in mid-air and he couldn't move!

When I got saved, i had a hard time singing about Mary being queen of the universe. The words were like a bad taste in my mouth, but I had a hard time The reconciling that she didn't do anything at all. I know she did SOMETHING, or else her name wouldn't be in the Bible, but so did Joseph, Moses and Paul. The point being is that Jesus hung on that cross, not her. But Jesus was very good to her in giving her another son in John.

I was never one to get hooked on rosaries, but He made a point of reminding me not getting attached to medallions or jewelry and using them as crutches.

You can call yourself a Christian, wear a cross around your neck, blend in with the rest of the world and you'll be deemed "normal." If you are evangelical and still behave like the way above while praying to God, your walk with the Lord might seem a little more peculiar. But tell everyone you heard God talk back to you, just like He talked back to Paul in the Book of Acts and they just might back away in disbelief.

Seeing isn't believing. Believing is seeing.

I write what I know. I believe what I hear. I have faith in what I cannot see. I know without knowing because I have faith. I write to let you all know what I'm seeing, hearing and knowing.  View profile
