The Belly Bandit can be purchased online from bellybandit.com or amazon.com. You have three different options, there is the original Belly Bandit in white, nude, or black, the bamboo Belly Bandit in natural or black, and the Belly Bandit Couture in a variety of fun patterns. I opted for the nude Belly Bandit in the original design in a size large.
The Belly Bandit can be worn, according to the website, immediately after the birth of your child. I decided to wait a week after my c-section before using mine.
When I first put it on I felt confident. It really cinches in your waist and hides that belly pouch that makes you look like you are still five months pregnant. It fit comfortably underneath my maternity clothes, which I still wore for the first month after giving birth.
The comments I got from friends and family were great. People commented on how slim I looked after just having a baby. I felt like this was the greatest invention ever. Yes I had to wear this twenty-four hours a day, but it was a small price to pay for a slimmer stomach without the crunches.
The second week wearing the Belly Bandit was not as glorious. The product is supposed to be breathable, but I developed a rash on my stomach where the velcro is. I tried fastening it at different areas around my waist, but it just caused more of a rash. I called the company and their recommendation was to get a second Belly Bandit and alternate. I guess they wanted to sell more product? I ended up discontinuing my use of the Belly Bandit at night.
The third week the Belly Bandit began to wrinkle and stretch out. I ordered a large based on my stomach measurement during the eight month. I was actually right between a large and an extra large, but opted for the smaller size to allow for a tighter cinching of the waist. I could fit into medium the bandit was so stretchy. The Belly bandit also started to wrinkle and bunch up. I tried washing it, which requires drying over a hanger for a full twelve hours. This did nothing.
One flaw is the product does not allow for the fact that even after having a baby a women still has a natural waist and the bandit needs to cinch more in some places then others. It is a one sized bandit that bunches because it can not adjust to the slimmer areas of the waist.
The fourth week came, and I flat out gave up. My stomach was not thinner, my strech marks were still there, but I could not deal with the rash from the velcro and the pain the bunching of the product caused. I was overjoyed by the freedom not wearing the Belly Bandit caused, not the effect the product is supposed to give.
Would I by the Belly bandit again? No, it was $39.95 that I probably should not have spent in the first place for a product that simply did not deliver what it promised.

Post a CommentI absolutely love the belly bandit! It is great for posture, back support, flattening of the belly under clothes, and helps retrain your stomach muscles to tighten. It also helps remind you to suck your belly in again. We sell it in our store. Bamboo is the biggest seller for comfort. I like the coutoure the best. It is a bit firmer but still soft. It is less likely to fold in the fabric from wearing for a long time. (Realizing people wear these 24 hours a day)... of course they can mold to your body a bit. It is very rare for someone to buy the original unless they just can't afford one of the others. It is very firm and a bit uncomfortable. I also have a tummy tucker and I love it. It is so comfortable and tucks into my jeans to keep from having belly bulge. Nursing mothers like the new tummy tucker in spahetti straps for access. The belly bandit works so well that many mothers come back within a few weeks to buy a size smaller already, and some two sizes smaller.
I completely agree! I can hardly find ANY bad reviews on the Belly Bandit, mine stretched out and did not shrink me and it bunches up at the waist and makes me look like I have back fat! (I don't). I am soooooo disappointed.
My girlfriends and I read about this online as well but only saw really great reviews. The 3 of us tried the Belly Bandit, my friend Andrea opted for the original as well, and even though she didn't get a rash she tried on our Bamboo that me and Alisha bought and was annoyed she went with the cheaper version since it wasn't nearly as comfy. Especially because the directions said to wear the bandit as often as possible. Maybe 3 weeks later of constantly wearing it, I moved down from a medium to a xsmall (my size), so I gave Andrea my bamboo since I just re-ordered. We did just give birth!! I think we deserve a little something special for ourselves - get the bamboo!!
Ugh. I had high hopes after reading your account of the first week. Im glad I never heard of this when I was first postpartum or I'd have wanted one too. Great review (as always).
Great write-up. I'd never heard of this before. It's a good thing. I probably would've used my pregnancy powers to sway my hubby into buying one at the time. Glad I'd never heard of it.
Darn, my youngest is 21. Never did lose all that "ahem" post baby weight. I was hoping this would help. LOL.
Good review. I hadn't heard of this before, and you did a great job explaining everything.
Thanks for your honest review. :-)
I see why it's called the belly bandit. Seems to have robbed $40 from you and gave you nothing but a rash. Great product review.
Sorry it didn't work for you :) Sheri
