When the family gets tired of hanging out at the beach and hitting the nearby attractions, Belmont Park also boasts a host of conveniently located city attractions and landmarks, including the local zoo and Sea World.
Belmont Park is Packed with Activity
With a wide variety of shopping and amusements in short walking distance of the beach, families who enjoy varying levels of excitement can choose to relax on the beach or have fun exploring local wares. Near Belmont Park are several beaches connected by a walkable boardwalk that also serves local bike riders, skateboarders and roller skaters.
Even though this location has many kid-friendly attractions, it is not a closed amusement park, so anyone can wander in and out. It is also next to a busy street. For this reason, families with kids should not leave children unsupervised. For parents with independent, older kids, periodic check-in times are advised to ensure that everyone is safe and having a good time.
Attractions Galore for Beachside Family Fun
Popular rides at Belmont Park include the usual family-friendly carnival-like fare, like the Giant Dipper Roller Coaster, The Vertical Plunge and the Octotron. Rides are available for kids of all ages. The property also boasts a Wave House for simulated surfing and bodyboarding in man-made waves. There is also a dining location, SoundWave, which opens up into a full-fledged music venue by night to rock the house for beachgoing music lovers.
Parking is tight at this popular San Diego beach location, so be sure to go early to wait for the chance to snag a close spot, or wear your walking shoes for the short strut from the nearby public parking areas.
Located just 6 minutes' drive from Sea World, 15 minutes from the San Diego Zoo and 17 minutes from the San Diego International Airport, Belmont Park is one of the most conveniently located beaches in town. Because it is so close to so many San Diego family friendly attractions, it is a smart beach outing destination for families with kids who get bored at the beach.
