Below Eighteen
I should like to rise and go
To wander scenes of the outside
Things deprived of me by fate
I longed for freedom
I lamented tears of misery
Longed for words, so sweet
So true, so passionately
They who claimed but promises
Of love
Of good
Of life
Of wisdom
Of happiness
Of success
That behind these walls awaits me
Great, grand land of glory
Nothingness...
Simplest my heart seeks
Only but faces, of voices
Those who quoted me fantasy
Life, young, gentle and happy!
