Below Zero

Alaskan Poetry

Jessa S. Joehnk
The air burns my exposed skin,

Tearing the heat away,

Greedily devouring all warmth

From my body, my breath.

My eyes tear from the cold,

The liquid freezing at edges,

Fogging in the centers and

Erasing the world around.
