Ben Hogan CFT Ti Hybrid Review

The Ben Hogan Golf Company has been around for so long that most golfers have almost forgot about them! How is this possible? A few years back, Callaway Golf bought out a few very key companies. Odyssey, Top Flite and Ben Hogan. This strategy helps Callaway in many ways, but it leaves fans of the iconic Ben Hogan Golf Company left in the dark. It has been a few years now since they have released a new club and the future for this once great company does not look good. While the Ben Hogan Golf Company has been dormant since Callaway purchased them some years ago, they still have plenty of pop in their lineup. Of course their irons are still very , very good if not better than ever. The drivers and fairway woods are gone, but the hybrids still remain.

The Ben Hogan CFT Ti Hybrid is a blend of both power and accuracy. Everyone now knows how much easier it is to hit a hybrid than a long iron, and Hogan thought it would be a great idea to add a little more distance to the equation by adding a Ti face. The Titanium face not only adds great distance, but its lightweight quality allows the designers to add more weight to the perimeter of the club as well as the rear. This makes for a higher launch angle and greater forgiveness on off center hits. They come in number of lofts from 17 degrees to 27 degrees and feature a Aldila graphite shaft and Lamkin Grip.

When I hit a few balls with these hybrids I noticed two things. One, they look and feel great, but unfortunately they go too long! If there is such a thing! I would be going from a 2 hybrid that goes 230 yard to a 3 iron that goes 210 yards. To big of a gap for me to put in the bag. I like to keep a 7 to 10 yard gap in my irons and hybrid. The ball flight was high and long, I was able to work them any way I wanted, but I could not get over how far I hit them! It is possible that this club would find a place in your bag if you have a very tight course in front of you. The 1 iron would work perfectly for this.

Overall this is a great hybrid that is long, straight and workable. If you can find a place for it in your bag I would suggest it, but for me, its too strong.
