Ben Roethlisberger : Another Athlete in Trouble?

Tony Daniels
On the heels of the releases of Michael Vick and Donte Stallworth from prison, we have yet another athlete's name in the news for possibly committing another criminal act.

Ben Roethlisberger, accused of sexually assaulting a Lake Tahoe, Neveda woman last July, is another athlete who finds himself in the crosshairs of the criminal justice system.

Roethlisberger throughout his career, has led an exemplary life.

Playing in charity basketball games with fellow Pittsburgh Steeler teammate Nate Washington and volunteering in local Pittsburgh schools are just two of the upstanding ways that Roethlisberger demonstrates his concern for others.

He has always shown himself to be a gentleman and a courteous individual, which makes it hard to believe that he would be capable of committing such an act as sexual assault.

Standing 6'5" tall and weighing close to 250 pounds, Ben Roethlisberger is indeed an imposing figure. As imposing as he may look however, his nickname is "gentle Ben."

Roethlisberger obtained the name because in spite of his imposing stature, his nature was still that of a gentle person.

Could someone who garnered the nickname of "gentle Ben" have acted out in the way that is alleged? Only he and Andrea McNulty know the answer to that question.

I am reminded of an old saying that goes: " actions speak louder than words."

Ms. McNulty's words are in direct contradiction to nearly all of the things that Ben Roethlisberger has done in his life up until this point.

In this instance I think the old adage holds true, actions do speak louder than words.
