In unrelated cancer news, CancerCare announced that they have a "Door to Door" program that helps multiple myeloma patients with transportation costs such as gas, parking, tolls, and transportation to and from appointments.

In other cancer news, a new boutique called In The Pink strives to make cancer patients comfortable, according to writer Jennifer Knoechel of The Beaches Leader.
"Also in the boutique is a private fitting room for prosthetic fittings and fittings for compression garments and a salon where stylist Janet Underwood offers cancer patients head shavings and wig fittings free of charge," the article states. "One of In the Pink's biggest projects is the cami fund."

Maria Parrish presented the Komen Tarrant County affiliate with a check from the National Daughters of America. Because of her service on the National Council she was able to make the donation.
Sheryl Pettitt, 61, passed away peacefully on her houseboat on the Columbia River, surrounded by family and friends, according to LC Magazine.
She was born on June 4, 1948 in Long Beach, CA.
Donations in Pettitt's memory can be made to the Harmony Hill Retreat Center in Washington State at harmonyhill.org.
Louise (Weezie) Thomson of British Columbia, Canada passed away just a month after being diagnosed with a form of leukemia.
"Louise had been a facillitator of the Fraser Valley Family Resource Program and she was a dear friend and mentor to many women and youth in British Columbia's Lower Mainland area," stated a friend. "Louise was known as a great hustler when it came to getting funding for the causes she believed in."
