Benefits of Infrared Natural Gas Garage Heaters

Heating a garage is essential for auto enthusiasts who desire to work on their own cars year round. As the cold days of winter set in, working in an unheated garage can be unbearable. However, efficiently heating your attached or unattached garage is simple, relatively cheap, and safe if you choose the right type of heater.

There are many options to consider when choosing a heat supply for your garage. You could choose a propane bullet style heater which is powerful, but loud and emits harmful vapors. You could choose a natural gas furnace. This is powerful and efficient, but robs a lot of space, has an open flame, and needs proper ductwork. You could choose high powered electric heaters, but they are costly to purchase and costly to operate.

The best option for heating a garage is an infrared natural gas heater. This style of heater is virtually silent in operation, requires no ductwork or venting, does not have an open flame and takes up very little space. An infrared natural gas heater mounts overhead and requires a gas line to operate. Some require electrical connections.

A typical 2 car garage could be sufficiently heated with a 40,000 BTU infrared natural gas heater. This heater is typically the size of a duffel bag. The true benefit of any infrared heater is the method in which heat is output from the unit. Rather than forcing hot air out of the unit and wasting energy by heating the air, an infrared heater radiates heat onto objects. Objects will feel warm, but the air will not. This is ideal for working in a garage. This type of heat will warm your body, your car, your tools, and the cold cement floor making the area comfortable while not wasting energy.

An infrared natural gas heater can be purchase for around $300. Installation may require a professional, but the install is straightforward. Maintenance is limited as the heater have few functioning parts that could break.

So as winter sets in and you head out to your garage for that next oil change, car detailing, or repair work in the cold, consider installing a natural gas infrared heater. It will make garage time enjoyable even in the middle of winter. As an added benefit, you could run it all day throughout the winter months and never have to get into a cold car in the morning again. Best of all, this heater operates off of clean, efficient, and cheap natural gas.
