Benefits of Mannequins

Use Mannequins in Marketing, Displays, Medical Training, and Fashion Design

The benefits that mannequins contribute to the clothing retail industry have been acknowledged for many years. The mannequins are usually displayed in store windows and in different departments throughout the store.

One section of the store may sell coats where the mannequin will be displayed wearing a coat that is available for sale. Another department may have a mannequin wearing a swimsuit.

Mannequins are not only used in stores, but other types of businesses have different ways to utilize them. Museums use them for displays, TV and film shoots have them for props, some are dressed up in haunted houses during the Halloween season, and vendors at trade shows usually rent mannequins to help attract attention to their company business. Some mannequins are even used for decoy patrolmen.

Depending on what style the store wants to present, there are different type of mannequins available. There are mannequins that sit, stand, and lay down. There are male and female adult, children, and baby mannequins. Also, for maternity stores, there are pregnant mannequins. For lingerie stores, exotic mannequins can be purchased for that type of retail business. Children and baby mannequins are usually displayed in boutiques for children and department stores as well.

Even though the purchase of mannequins can be expensive, they eventually pay for themselves as sales continue to increase in the business. The appeal of mannequins has been around for many years as retail owners have discovered the marketing importance of advertising their merchandise.

There is also another benefit of mannequin use and that is a medical training mannequin used in the medical teaching field. The mannequin has an anatomically correct skeleton. Plastic skin covers the mannequin while a plastic packing is in between the skin and the skeleton. These medical training mannequins even have inflatable chest cavities and veins with simulated blood. Medical training mannequins can be expensive. However, they are cost effective in the long run due to the fact that a large classroom of students can all benefit from the training presentation at the same time. Some students are apprehensive about sticking needles or other sharp objects into real humans, so the medical training mannequin allows everyone to become more at ease with medical procedures.

Mannequins can be beneficial in many ways, not only as displays in retail stores but in other ways, such as the medical field, as well.

Old out-dated law (but not rescinded yet) In Atlanta, GA the blinds must be pulled down/shut before dressing a mannequin.
