Benefits of Meditation

Walking, Jogging, Gardening and Many Other Activities Can Be Forms of Meditation

To many people, meditation means sitting cross-legged on the floor with eyes closed and repetition of some chant, which is only one form of meditation. Walking, jogging, gardening and many other activities can be forms of meditation, while ritual prayer is another. Meditation can be any activity involving repetition of sound, phrase, or motion, plus passive disregard for intruding thoughts.

Given it's dramatic effects, why doesn't everyone meditate regularly? Some think meditation is complicated, others think it's related to eastern religions, which is strange to them. Many people think they are too busy to spend twenty minutes meditating, but benefits are so great that people make it a daily ritual after a while. The best time to meditate is right after awakening, so make it part of your morning ritual.
