Benefits of Naked Time for Babies

Susan300
There are many benefits to planning some 'Naked Time' for your baby every day. Read about them here and start your child on this important habit.

The benefits of playing naked are many and varied. "Naked Time' is a great activity that you can do with your baby, and the only equipment you need is an old towel that you don't mind getting peed on. Just make sure your house is warm enough, lay the towel on the kitchen floor, and strip off all your child's clothes and diaper.

** Being Naked is Good for Development
Diapers pull your baby's legs and hips into an spread out, bow-legged position. Getting those diapers off for a little while each day gives your child a chance to explore the complete range of motion that their little legs are capable of. They need an opportunity to use those muscle in every direction, so that they can develop properly. Naked Time gives your child a chance to exercise their legs and hips fully.

** Naked Time to Explore Body Parts
If they're wearing clothes all the time, babies will never have a chance to discover the parts that are hidden by clothes. Give your child some Naked Time every day and watch him or her find out that they have toes, and a belly button, and a ticklish place at the crease of that chubby little thigh.

** Babies Need to Air Out
Being trapped inside a warm wet diaper 24 hours a day is not good for anyone's skin. Giving your child some Naked Time everyday will give them a chance to air out, and promote healthier skin. You can help prevent diaper rash by letting your child go diaper-free as frequently as possible.

** Hey What's That?
Naked Time is a great 'teachable moment'. Now that you've got everything out in the open, start teaching your child what all their parts are called. Children that are born in winter months and kept bundled up, may not even know that they have toes! Take this opportunity to point out body parts and name them for your child. Even though your baby is too young to talk, he or she is listening, and will start to associate your words with the correct parts if you repeat them consistently.

** Naked Time is Fun
Being naked is fun! Your baby will be delighted with the total freedom of being naked and unfettered. After a few days of Naked Time, he or she will come to anticipate this as a daily activity and start wiggling in excitement when you get out the 'Naked Time Towel'.

Naked Time is an easy and fun activity that you can do with your child everyday. Give it a try and let your baby start enjoying all these great benefits!

Amy,Bravo for your efforts with potty training,Im a grandparent now ,having raised two children to adulthood I used that method more extensively. Our family is nudist oriwnted so it was the natural process that helped our children gain control of incontinence. My daughter and son grow up without the feeling of guilt or shame and they both used the same method. As far as embarrassment from visitors,ie.postman, paperperson or anyone else we know, they ALL are aware of our lifestyle and very supportive of it.

Great article! Nakey time is easy for our 10 month old now that it's summer! He spents it in his baby pool and out on the deck. No clean up required!
