Before we take a look at the benefits that organic skin care offers, you first need to know some very interesting facts about the products that are currently on the market. When you look at the chemical products out there, you need to realize that they are not federally controlled like many other products. In fact, 89% of the over 10,000 ingredients that go into these products are not evaluated for safety. There is no group or organization that looks into what is included in these products and many of these same ingredients are known to be harmful. Three common ingredients in these products are paraffin, parrabin, and petroleum jelly. All three of these ingredients are actually by products of the oil industry. These three compounds are the sludge that is left over in the barrel when you convert crude oil to gasoline. This would be the equivalent of rolling around in the recycled oil bin down at the local Auto Zone. That is not a very healthy practice for you or your skin. These are not the only problem ingredients either. The average adult uses 9 skin care products daily. This translates into about 126 or more chemicals that you expose your body to as a habit. Many of us use a lot more than just 9 products in a day. Now you factor in that only 11% of these chemicals have been evaluated for safety and you start to see the problem. Even the ones that have been evaluated are not all safe. Mercury, Dioxane, Nitrosamines, DEA, Cyclomethicone, Ammonium Laureth Sulfate, Alcohol, Isopropyl (SD-40), Polyethylene Glycol, and Polyethylene eth- are just a few of the evaluated chemicals that are still used. These are known poisons that are slowly seeping into our skin.
Not only are these products hazardous to your health, but many of them cause severe damage to the skin that they are supposed to protect and beautify. Many of the chemical compounds that can be found in these products can actually rob your skin of important oils, vitamins, and minerals. Often times, this is the very problem that you are trying to fix with these chemical nightmares. Not only are you not fixing the problem with them, but you are actually making your skin worse. This would be the equivalent of the major tobacco companies trying to sell cigarettes as health care products. The truth is that there are more harmful chemicals contained in your skin care regime than a pack of Marlboros. Just like tobacco, you begin to get addicted in the sense that you have to use more or stronger products to "get rid" of the problems. Not only is the problem still there, but many times it is worse. Considering that many of us have been using the more "traditional" products for years, these effects are slowly rotting our skin away. It is not too late though. A more natural and organic approach to your skin care products can start to reverse these deadly and damaging effects.
For thousands of years, people depended on natural herbs, medicines, foods, and cosmetics to care for their bodies. Just like a balanced diet, a balanced skin care regime can greatly improve the look and health of our bodies, both inside and out. The saying that beauty is only skin deep, may have some truth. Considering that our skin is the largest organ of our body and accounts for approximately 1/6thor out body weight, "skin deep" can take on a whole new meaning. By using natural or organic compounds on our skin, we can increase out skins elasticity and return that natural glow to our body. All of us have to battle some sort of skin problem in our lives. Whether it be acne, dryness, oiliness, rosacea, or any number of other skin problems, we have a choice. We can either use chemical products that can cause damage and create dependency, leave it alone and hope no one notices, or start using organic products that can fix the problem. Continuing to expose our skin to harmful chemicals can create a dependency in the fact that they only mask the problem. Many of these products can also cause more severe damage to our skin and increase our dependency. Leaving it alone is not really an option for any of us. If this were an option, you would not likely be reading this right now. That leaves us with one clear cut choice: natural products that will help our skin heal and improve.Organics do this in two ways. The first of these ,is that it will help cover the problem with the beauty found in nature. Using natural minerals and fruits can yield a more vibrant and attractive color than any chemical can ever make. The colors of nature have long been envied and have yet to be equaled in a lab. Chemicals tend to dull the colors and wear out quickly. For truly beautiful and long lasting colors, it is no secret that fruits and minerals are the best. From ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia, to present day natives and tribes, natural ingredients have proven to be superior to rubbing carcinogens all over your body. The second way that organic products help us is by fixing the problems that our skin has. Just like our inner organs need vitamins and minerals, our skin needs these as well. It has been proven through numerous studies that antioxidants, collagen, and elastin can take years from your skin while reducing wrinkles as well. It has also been proven that the use of CoQ and other vitamins and minerals can increase the natural production of collagen and elastin. By implementing these vitamins and minerals to your skin care regime, can not only look better, but you can start to feel better as your skin is healed and not just disguised.
Leading a healthy life can be difficult. You have to use products that make your entire body more balanced and healthy. This includes your skin. The vitamins and minerals that you take into your body or even apply on the outside will greatly influence everything else. Your skin absorbs everything that it comes in contact with. By using harsh chemicals, you are introducing carcinogens and unnatural elements into your blood stream. Many of us believe that if we eat right and get exercise, we can stay healthy. This is just the beginning. The outside is just as important as the inside. If anything, I hope this article will help you to be more aware of what you put into your body from the outside.
