Luckily, now there are many different resources for pregnant teenagers to use and go to before and after their pregnancy. Parenting does come naturally, however there are many things in parenting class that can benefit pregnant teenagers.
No matter what year we are in, there are still children who cannot go to their parents and talk to them about important issues. Being pregnant happens to be one of those issues when children and parents do not see eye to eye.
Parenting classes give pregnant teenagers the opportunity to understand what options they have and if they do decide to keep the baby, what they need to know.
In parenting classes, the first thing a pregnant teen will be introduced to and educated about, is choice. They will know that they have the choice to either keep their child, put it up for adoption, or even abort their pregnancy. If they choose to keep the child, parenting classes will begin.
This is what they will learn.
They will learn how to hold, feed, bath and change the baby. Something that many parents do not know how to do. They will learn the different meanings of when their baby cries. They will learn how to place the baby in a car seat, carrier, stroller, swing and even their crib.
One thing that parenting classes also teach to teenagers is patience and stress management during and after the pregnancy. Many teenage girls have not yet grown or lived long enough to be able to cope with the ups and downs of being a new parent. This will greatly benefit them in more ways then one.
Parenting classes will also teach them that they can stay in school and still be a parent. Many schools around the country offer daycare for those who do have children. They will be shown how to apply to get their children into them. If they have decided to leave school and work, they will be shown where they need to go for assistance in finding a job.
.
Last but not least, teenage parents will be taught about protecting themselves from getting pregnant again. They will be offered places where they can go and get condoms and birth control if needed for a low or no cost. This is one of the most important parts of the class that is needed to be learned and executed. If you educate teenagers on the hows and whys, you will be amazed at how many of them actually take the advice.

Post a CommentParenting classes are great. And for when they get a little older, there are some great books on getting kids to behave. My personal favorite is here (copy and paste into URL box) goo.gl/lcYK
It's so good to know that there are places that offer classes like that for teen parents.
