The benefits of quitting smoking are far better than the discomforts of recovery. The good news is it can be done. Millions of people have done it. At first most smokers worry about craving cigarettes; cravings will pass; most cravings only last a few minutes. Throughout time the urge to smoke gets weaker and comes less often. Withdrawal is uncomfortable, but not painful, it is for a short time and manageable. If you gain weight, and gaining a few extra pounds after quitting is normal, exercise and eat healthy to stop most of the weight gain. Since smoking has been a part of your daily life you will have reminders of smoking during routines such as waiting for bus or drinking morning coffee. Every day you spend as a non-smoker helps you make new routines that don't include cigarettes. Most people who quit smoking are surprised by how good they feel.

Changes will involve:

• You will find you don't need to smoke
• Feelings of being in charge
• No need to find places to smoke
• No worries about smoke bothering others
• Hair, clothes and breath won't smell like smoke
• Cars, homes and kids won't smell like smoke
• You will be able to smell food and other good smells
• No need to sure you have cigarettes
• More money
• You won't have to worry about your health
• Skin looks healthier
• More energy when walking, playing with kids or performing other activities
