Benefits of taking an on line or guided study course to obtain a BA Degree

When I was young I did not have the opportunity to complete my college education when I wanted to, life got in the way and I had to stop at a early age to take care of family issues, children, husband, mother, job, mortgage all of these made a BA degree something that would remain on my wish list for many years. A few years ago while I was still working I had the opportunity thrown back at me to finish my college courses and have the government pay for my degree. I was less than 90 credits away from a BA so I jumped at the chance. I found a college that offered on line, guided study courses. This fit well into my life because I was one of those adult learners who had developed a bad habit of liking a steady meal and having a roof over my head at night. I had to pay my own way through life, no one was giving me anything, and what I have I mostly earned on my own. On line courses offered me the opportunity to achieve a college degree. The degree not only provided me a tool for advancement in my professional life, it also offered me a fulfillment of a dream that had been put on hold for many years. The on line courses offered allowed me to be a full time employee, earning my living and existing in the real world yet achieving a goal that many young students took for granted.

Mothers and Fathers all over the country mortgage themselves into a hole to provide Junior with the ultimate opportunity of going away to school. Let some of these young students find out how difficult the real world is before they take for granted that their parents have to spend a small fortune so that they can party all night.
I wish that I could have had the opportunity to experience college life on a campus; however that was not in the cards for me. So, therefore I settled for what I could get. I did whatever was necessary to ensure that I passed the courses in order to obtain my BA degree. The degree and what it offered in benefits to the betterment of my life style and what I intended to achieve were of the utmost importance.
Although I know that I could not interact with my fellow students in a classroom environment, I still was able to achieve the essence of the class. When I went back to get my degree I looked into traditional classes at universities and colleges across Maryland, and they just did not fit into my current life style. I had many interests and responsibilities. On line courses are not for everyone, some students may feel intimidated and unsure of themselves, while working alone, however I personally liked the independence that was offered by an on line course.
On line classes offered me the opportunity to accomplish my goals. I would have liked the opportunity to attend a formal college campus, one where I would have been a campus resident. It would have been nice to be able to sit in a large classroom and listen to and interact with not only the professor but to hear the comments of my fellow students. At the beginning of my college I went to a community college for two years. Although the experience wasn't the same as a traditional university, I was still able to achieve a good portion of my class requirements. As I grew older, I saw the wasted time and funds expended by some of these unappreciative young men and women. By attending classes, on line, I did not have to deal with the attitudes, tantrums and personalities of fellow students. It worked well for me.

I also believe on-line classes are good for people who have multiple roles that they have to play at the same time. The highly flexible schedule will make it a norm in the future to get degrees through on-line courses................congrats!
