Lifting weights has many benefits for many people. For Men, weight training can give them a nice muscular physique, help them get stronger, and can even help them live longer. Weight lifting can help women by giving them a more toned body and can also help them burn fat from all of the new muscle that they have gained. But what about the elderly? Should they lift weights also, and if so, what does it benefit them if they do begin lifting weights. In this article, I want to go over some of the benefits that elderly people have if they begin to incorporate weight training in their daily lives. Lets begin.

Stronger Bones

One of the best benefit's the elderly receive from lifting weights is that they're bones become stronger. As you age, your bones can begin to become weaker and weaker. This can come from a lot of sources such as not getting enough calcium, eating to much sugar, and a host of other things. When the elderly lift weights, it begins to strengthen their muscles. The muscle is the part of the body that keeps the bones together, so the tighter and stronger your muscle, the stronger your bones become. The lifting of the weights not only strengthens their muscle, but it keeps the bones nice and firm.

Fights Diseases

Another key thing that weight lifting does for the elderly is that it helps fight diseases. Weight training is a great way to keep your immune system stronger. Now the actual weight training doesn't get your immune system strong. The Actual vitamins and supplements that are taken after weight training is what keeps the immune system strong. So when an elderly person follows a weight lifting routine, it will help them prevent diseases in there body.

Gives them A Healthy Heart

Weight lifting also gives elderly people a healthy heart. Lifting weights can help your cardiovascular in many ways. One thing that weight lifting does for the elderly is that it gets their heart rate going. And by getting their heart rate up, it is burning off fat and plaque and other things that my be clogging up their heart. The speed that the elderly lift the weight will cause their heart rate to go up faster.

Lifting weights is not only for the young, but senior citizens can receive great benefits from weight training also. All seniors should try to incorporate some type of weight training in their daily routine.
