Benjamin Moore's 2009 Color Trends

J M K
Benjamin Moore has always been a style-setter. The décor company releases a paint collection each year that sets the tone for the year's paint trends in their annual publication, Color Pulse. Benjamin Moore's 2008 paint collection, divided into four separate color groups, was a huge success. The company included hot colors, modern tranquil colors, organic comfort colors, and pure opulence colors in their 2008 collection but for 2009 Benjamin Moore's hues will take a cue from current events.

While the world is tail-spinning into an economic depression, Benjamin Moore sees reason to be optimistic. According to BenjaminMoore.com, the star of the 2009 collection is Elmo's Fire 362 yellow. The citrusy yellow is bright but with a hint of green the hue is warm enough to fill the walls of any room in the house.

According to FurrnitureStyle.com, Benjamin Moore will also focus on four paint groups that show simplicity. The four groups Doty Horn, Director of Color & Design at Benjamin Moore, suggested are Raw, Urban Silence, Simplexity, and Private Identity.

Raw features muted colors that are typically suggested as the neutral paint colors used to decorate a house that is for sale. The collection includes colors such as Chantilly Lace OC-65, Mascarpone AF-20, Collector's Item AF-45, Fossil AF-65, Frappe AF-85, Hush AF-95, Jute AF-80, Tucson Winds 1024, Sterling 1591, Storm AF-700, Steel Wool 2121-20, Gray 2121-10.

Urban Silence is a group of paints that are said to bridge the gap between city and out-of-city life. The color group reflects the new urban trend of including green spaces in cities. Urban Silences includes Shadow Gray 2125-40, Lapland AF-410, Yellow Tone 370, Wasabi AF-430, Winding Vines 532, Old Gold 167, Glen Ridge Gold 301, Rattan AF-375, Rustic Taupe 999, Abbey Brown 1225, Bronze Metallic Bronze-30 (Studio Finish color), Copper Metallic Copper-40 (Studio Finish color).

Simplexity
, while simple at first glance, is a group of colors that have a rich texture and depth. In certain lights and shadows, the paints subtleties will show differently. The collection includes Thunder AF-685, Meditation AF-395, Amsterdam AF-550, Carob AF-160, Caponata AF-650, Merlot Red 2006-10, Arroyo Red 2085-10, Dried Mustard 2158-10, Majestic Violet 2068-10, Hidden Falls 714, Buttered Yam AF-230, Gargoyle 1546.

The Private Identity collection follows Benjamin Moore's optimistic trend. Horn describes the paint colors as "bright, bold, and unexpected." Desert Rose 2094-50, Mango Punch 154, Perennial 405, Pacific Palisades 762, Tricycle Red 2000-20, Blushing Red 2079-20, Thunderbird 675, Lucerne AF-530, Fire and Ice 1329, Black Satin (High Gloss) 2131-10, Silver Metallic Silver-20 (Studio Finish color), Gold Metallic Gold-10 (Studio Finish color).

Here's a little tip. Try Ben Mooore's Affinity line (The AF colors). All the colors coordinate with each other. You cant go wrong, unless you put green in the bathroom...makes the complexion look pasty.
