There is one airport Orio al Serio Airport that serves Bergamo and Milan . The airport is small and comfortable. The foothills of the Alps begin immediately north of the town.
I took the bus, a very comfortable ride and it took almost one hour to arrive in Milan. It depends on the traffic. I was amazed to see the roads, and their drivers. I liked to see and observe the cars Fiat, Mini Cooper and BMW their cars plate.
Milan is about 30-40 minutes away by train. I took the train from Milan back to Bergamo.
I fell in love with Bergamo through my friend's photos. This friend was from Bergamo, the snow on his car and the hills. Very beautiful! Bergamo is very different from Milan and from the rest of Italy.
The funicular ( cable car ) connect the two cities "Città alta" (upper city) and the "Città bassa" (lower city). I took the bus to "Città alta; It was a beautiful ride and see the road and its landscape.
It is better to take the cable car because of the amazing view.
Città Alta (upper city) is surrounded by Venetian walls built in the 17th century , forms the historic side of Bergamo.
It has a medieval atmosphere due to its history and architecture.
Some of the places I saw were Cittadella (Citadel), built by the Visconti in the mid 14th century, Piazza Vecchia (old square) and Bergamo Cathedral (Duomo) were built in the late 17th century with later modifications.
There are nice restaurants, I tried the polenta Bergamasca, yummy! It is a polenta with cheese and some other extra flavor from Bergamo. It is a different polenta that I was raised eating. The restaurant filled with families and I loved observing their interaction brought me memories of my family.
Boutiques that sell great accessories were a great and pleasant shopping experience. There are many shops that brought me childhood memories as knitting and embroidery shops.
Città Bassa ( lower city) is the modern side of Bergamo. It is beautiful and different.
Bergamo is very unique! There is another part of Bergamo that it is very important for its citizens. The football or soccer is the famous soccer team Atalanta.
Bergamo is a very cultural place with theater and university located at Piazza Vecchia, the center of get together.
I fell really in love with this beautiful place! I did not have the opportunity to experience the snow time.
The beauty doubles!
I saw a healthy lifestyle and beautiful people.
