Bernie Mac, One of the Original Kings of Comedy, died August 8, 2008. Though pneumonia claimed the life of this versatile and no nonsense comedian, nothing will erase the great moments on and off screen, which Bernie Mac left behind. Bernie Mac was fifty years of age at his passing and as fellow comedian Chris Rock stated, "He was like having 12 people in a room, he filled it so much."

Bernie Mac was very proud of the career he had made for himself, and in memory of his mother. "I'm an ordinary guy with an extraordinary job." "Whatever success I've had, I always like to top it."

Bernie Mac never shied away from being real and made a controversial impression during a Barack Obama fundraiser last month. "My little nephew came to me and he said, 'Uncle, what's the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?' "Mac said."I said, 'I don't know, but,' I said, 'go upstairs and ask your mother if she'd make love to the mailman for $50,000."

During the Original Kings of Comedy Bernie Mac did not hold back any punches. "I will f*** a kid up. When a kid gets one-years-old, I believe you go the right to hit him in either the throat or the stomach. If you grown enough to talk back, you grown enough to get f**** up!"

The Bernie Mac Show was a reflective view into the comedic stars life. One of the most memorable television father figures, Mac always ask America, "Am I lyin?"
"Okay, first rule of this carpool. No breaking wind in my car. The only gas that Bernie Mac want to be smelling is unleaded." "Shut up before I drop yo ass off at Koreatown. Now hold on, America, don't start writing no letters. I'm just kidding. But am I lying?"

The stars of television, stage, and screen were shocked at the passing of Bernie Mac and the world is with them. Actor George Clooney said of Bernie Mac's passing, "The world just got a little less funny. He will be dearly missed."

Bernie Mac will always be remembered and honored as one of the legends and the kings of comedy.

I believe in life. Every ounce of simplicity and every mega-load of intensity enthralls me. I love the art of poetry and the art of truth.  View profile

I all but froze when Michael Colyer announced to the crowd at the Women's Black Expo that Bernie Mac had died. It turned out to be a false alarm, but the very next Saturday, he really did die. I think I was so numb by the first bit of news that I handled it better the second time around when I heard it at the Bud Billiken Day Parade. Did you see the memorial service pics? If not, here are some from my employer (Chicago Defender)'s website. http://www.chicagodefender.com/imagesGalleries.php?action=viewGallery&gal_id=94
