Best 2011 Movies for Teenagers: Top 5 Films Teens and Tweens Will Want to Watch

5 Upcoming Movies for Teens and Tweens

Bryan Mckinley
The top teen and tween movies in 2011 can't even get close to competing with the best of 2010, can they? 2010 not only gave us Harry Potter and Twilight in the same year, but also introduced us to Percy Jackson and welcomed us back to Narnia. Well, it looks like production companies figured out a way to top even the hype of the 2010 young adult movies that came to the big screen. It was actually pretty simple. Copy what worked in 2010 by having the next movie in the Twilight Saga and plopping the much anticipated Harry Potter finale right dab in the middle of the summer. Then, to make things even better, feature teen sensations Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez in seperate movies. Just in case there isn't enough to look forward to for teens and tweens, there is even a new series breaking on to the big screen in 2011. Here are the five movies that teenagers can't wait to go see this year.

5. I am Number Four- This February 18th release is hoping to warm up Twilight fans before Breaking Dawn hits the big screen. It seems fit to capture a very similar audience if the movie itself can hold up to its plot line. Alex Pettyfer plays a young man with exceptional powers that tries to mask himself among the regular teens at high school. Of course, this wouldn't be interesting unless if somebody was trying to kill him and there were others with exceptional powers. Gee, wouldn't you know it; there just happens to be both. Will Alex Pettyfer give Team Edward and Team Jacob a run for their money?

4. Monte Carlo - Miley Cyrus took on the big screen in full force in 2010, and Selena Gomez will be following her path in 2011. I guess there are worse teen sensations that Gomez could've followed in the footsteps of. Three particular ones come to mind pretty quickly. This tween and teen romantic comedy has Gomez teaming up with young actresses Katie Cassidy and Leighton Meester. "Monte Carlo" will attempt to wow young females into the audience starting on July 1st, 2011.

3. Justin Beiber: Never Say Never - Personally, I am tired of Justin Bieber, and the last thing I want to hear about is him making a movie. However, contrary to what you might think, after noticing my excitement in the top two most anticipated young adult movies of 2011, I'm quite a bit older than Bieber's normal fan base. Make no mistake, teens and tweens flock over Justin Bieber. I'm sure that this movie that hits the theaters February 11th will see no shortage of his fans filling up the seats. The movie follows Bieber and his performances on tour in 2010. Miley Cyrus and Jaden Smith will also be making appearances in this flick geared towards young adults.

2. Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part I- Taking a page right out of Harry Potter's book, the last novel in Stephenie Myer's "Twilight Saga" will be broken up into two movies. The first one of these two films will be at the theaters on October 28th, 2011. Do I even have to say anything more about why this movie is so anticipated? It's Twilight people! Okay, enough said.

1. Harry Potter Deathly Hollows Part II- At last, the finale of J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter Series will come to the theaters on July 15th, 2011. It's almost saddening to know that this will be the last great adventure on the big screen for Harry, Ron and Hermione. There is no doubt that this is the most anticipated movie of the year for teens, tweens and all young adults. Just in case you don't count men in their early thirties as young adults, then add me on the count of people waiting impatiently for the last Harry Potter flick to come to the theaters.
