Best 24 Hour Restaurants in Wilkes-Barre and Northeast PA
Where to Get Your Eats Late at Night in and Around Wilkes-Barre
Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702
United States of America
This AC Content Producer has dined at each of the establishments, most likely after a night at the bar. However, all-night diners aren't just for the bar crowd to sober up-they are also the perfect spot for hungry travelers, truck drivers who need a pick-me-up and for those working the swing shift.
Here is a look at restaurants that are open 24 hours in the Greater Wilkes-Barre area:
Austies, San Souci Parkway, Hanover Township
Austies is locally owned and open all-night-- the perfect place for those traveling home from Wilkes-Barre going toward Nanticoke or one of the other eastern Luzerne county communities. The wait staff is friendly at Austies, often remembering patron's names. Food comes out fast, too. Austies serves breakfast at all hours, as well as their lunch and dinner menus.
Eddie's Diner, 577 Fox Hill Road (off Route 315) in Plains Township
Eddie's Diner is no doubt growing in popularity now that the slot machines at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs are in full swing. Gamblers at all hours of the night can get their fill-perhaps spend their winnings- at Eddie's Place. Breakfast is served all day at Eddie's Diner.
Denny's, Scott Street, Wilkes-Barre
Denny's Restaurant is nationally known as a great place to eat breakfast. Denny's is perhaps best known for its Signature Slams, which are a variety of breakfast meal concoctions. The Denny's in Wilkes-Barre is a little older than most Denny's locations and has a very open dining atmosphere. The interior could use a makeover, but it's appearance takes nothing away from the yummy breakfast that is available 24-hours per day. Denny's offers a slimmed down version of their menu for late-night dining, which includes breakfast items, burgers and sandwiches.

Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, Route 309, Wilkes-Barre
There are a few Perkins locations in the Greater Wilkes-Barre area, but it is the one located on Route 309- by Taco Bell-that is open 24-hours per day. The atmosphere at the Wilkes-Barre Perkins is by far the nicest dining experience for late-night diners available in the city as far as the interior decorating goes-very cozy. Perkins is well known for its pancakes (The Buttermilk Five), Mammoth muffins and the eggs Benedict. During late night hours, most of the regular menu is available. The coffee is bottomless, and amazing. Plus, you can grab a pie or some extra muffins for the next morning.
Petro Truck Stop's Iron Skillet, Route 315 in Pittston
The Petro Truck Stop never closes. And, this national chain of truck stops' resident restaurant has been voted #1 by truckers for years. This 24-hour restaurant and complex caters to truckers-they have their own seating area- however, it is open to the public, whether it be interstate motorists or locals looking for late night munchies. The Iron Skillet restaurant offers all the standard diner fare, as well as a buffet at all hours, which includes soups, salads and at certain locations standard breakfast or dinner items. In addition, since it is after all a truck stop, patrons can also load up on energy drinks, purchase mud flaps and 80s country cassettes and work boots, no matter what the hour.
Sheetz, Route 309 Wilkes-Barre; Route 315, Plains Township and Route 309, Dallas
If you want good for on the go as opposed to a sit-down meal late at night, try Sheetz a gas station/convenience store with a Made-to-Order food section and coffee bar. The commercials for Sheetz take pride in its slogan: "It's not fast food, it's good food fast." Patrons of Sheetz can use the touch-screen ordering system to get a Shmuffin, a Shmiscuit or one of Sheetz' other signature breakfast sandwiches. The entire menu is available 24 hours a day and also includes burgers, fries, nachos and macaroni and cheese. And get this. At some Sheetz locations, you can order at the gas pump. Howe much easier can filling the tank and the tummy be at 3 a.m.? For more on this revolutionary convenience restaurant, click here: http://www.sheetz.com/main/
