Best 5 Reasons to End the War

BS
The War in Iraq is.. well, stupid. There are many reasons why it should be brought to an end, but there are five reasons which should be enough to stop this from continuing.

1) The war never should have started in the first place - What happened on September 11th, 2001 was absolutely horrible. Everyone is in agreement that the terrorist attacks were both traumatic and terrible for everyone, some more than others, but everyone was affected. Although the attacks on the Twin Towers were by no means justified, this was not reason enough to begin a war. Yes, there were supposedly other reasons, but the war came mainly as a response to the attacks, which is completely ridiculous. We are taught from an early age that when someone does something hurtful to us, we should be the bigger person and that we should not retaliate.

2) Terrorism will never be stopped - As much time, effort, and money that is put into a war on terrorism, terrorism will never be be stopped by a war. Each time a terrorist group is extinguished, a new one will be formed. There will always be terrorism in the world. There will always be people who, for whatever reason, want to cause harm to others. If the war's purpose is to combat terrorism and bring it to an end, the war will continue until the end of the world. If the war is doing anything, it's making things worse. The United States' presence in the Middle East is ill received and is causing hostility among other nations, and in the end this could seriously backfire.

3) It is hurting the American economy - The United States' economy has been progressively getting worse and worse since the beginning of this war and the American people are suffering. Practically everything has risen in cost, most noticeably gas prices, and many people are having trouble keeping up. It is not fair that American people are being penalized for a war that many do not even believe in anymore. Many did support the war in the beginning, but now it has lost very much of it's support and America is supposed to be for the people by the people. The government should listen to the people.

4) High cost - This war is costing billions of dollars which the United States could be putting to much better use. Healthcare and education programs could greatly benefit from getting as much attention and money as the war. The United States will never gain anything out of this war and it is extremely unfair to be using the money of the American people on something that they will never benefit from when there are more important things to be spending money on.

5) Death of soldiers - Hundreds of soldiers have been killed in this ridiculous war. I respect the work that the armed forces are doing, and in no way am I insulting them, but they are not keeping the country safe, no one can keep the country safe from terrorism. Their presence in the Middle East is not having any kind of positive effect for America. Soldiers are dying every day, leaving their families to deal with pain and the especially knowing that their loved one's life could have been saved if it wasn't for this pointless war.

Robert you realize why there is no terrorism here right? That is because this war was started. I believe that president Obama was correct in getting out of Iraq and going in to Afghanistan but u have to realize why we live so peacefully.

Great Article! I read the first sentence and almost stopped because enough was said.... It's stupid... They say its a war on terrorism.... I say where is the terrorism.. NOT HERE.... Yes terrorism my happen is other countries like Iraq... But for here in the US it doesn't happen... I would be 100% behind the war on terrorism if there was car bombs everday in New York or if there were suicide bombers in Chicago but there's not... 9/11 was a well thought out plan something that the terrorist could only afford to do once.... and i also agree terrorism will never end... no matter howw long we fight the war

Children will always disobey their parents, Does that mean that parents should not discipline their children. There will always be criminals and some of them will never be caught or rehabilitated if they are. Does that mean that we should open all of the jails? While I may not agree with all of the reasons for the war, some of your arguements are weak at best. More lives have been saved by a few (relatively speaking) American lives being lost. If we really care about our nation and our world the way we claim to, then we must look at the war with a less egocentric veiw.

I agree with you : these war was crazy and not necessary. In fact a war which doesn't solve anything and is based on things which are not true. A war doesn't solve problems.
