Best Accessories for Men

Get Your Guy Glam on with These Simple Suggestions

Linda Riggs
Styles come and go so fast it can make a person want to duck and cover rather than tackle shopping in their local mall. Clothing prices have soared along with the rest of the economy and that doesn't help the average shopper much either. While I honestly believe that men have a far easier time keeping up with style than women do, I do recognize that there are some things they need to focus on to stay current and confident.

Investing in a couple of nicely tailored suits will always help a man through life. There are few occasions that require much more than a nice suit for men. Buying standard colored shirts and basic black will also make life easier for most men. Men should always purchase dress shoes in shades of black and brown and tennis shoes are fine in any color as long as they're not too flashy. These are obvious and standard tips for any guy that's out purchasing clothing. While I believe those tips to be the best advice given, I also think there's a bit more that men need to take notice on. Here are a few of my suggestions for accessories men need.

A Nice Clean Tailored Coat :
You may think of every detail when choosing your suit and tie. You probably always pick out a nice pair of shoes that match. Even your handkerchief is clean and pressed , tucked nicely in a jacket pocket. What you may not have paid much attention to lately is how clean and fresh your coat is. Coats can last up to twenty years if you purchase a well made one. The trick is to remember to get that coat dry cleaned. Nothing ruins a nice suit quicker than having to put a wrinkled or dirty coat on over it. Be sure to tend to this detail and you'll look marvelous as you step out of the car.

A Stylish Cell Phone :
This is something that any fashionable woman will notice. Men often don't think much about the appearance of their cell phones but women do. Women are well aware of the current trends in phones and also take notice of how masculine or feminine cell phones appear. The best suggestion is to make sure that you purchase something that's relatively new on the market. It's also important to purchase a phone that's a masculine color. Black is the best bet. Be sure to get something slim so that it won't be an issue to carry it in your pocket. Try to never be on your phone while you're on a date but if you have to answer , keep it short and be confident that your phone looks as good as the outfit you're wearing.

One Classic Ring :
An absolute no no for men is to wear lots of jewelry. With that said, it's still very important for a man to have one really nice piece of jewelry for nights out. The very young will often go for big bling jewelry but that's a mistake for a man trying to make a good first impression. The sexiest men that really have a grip on things know that wearing one fine piece of jewelry is just right. I've never been fond of men wearing earrings or a necklace. The best option for men is to go with one very unique gold ring. There's no need for diamonds or rare gemstones. One elegant and simple gold ring is just the right touch.

A Unique Lighter :
James Bond would never be caught without a lighter by a beautiful girl asking for a light for her smoke. While I don't think it's very sexy to smoke, I do think it's sexy for a man to be prepared. Sure, you could just carry a cheap lighter and figure that you've got it covered. That's not going to make much of an impression. Be wise and invest in a lighter that's unique and can be a conversation piece. They're very easy to find and an investment of twenty dollars could buy you a lighter that when used will spark up conversation as well as the cigarette. Even if you don't smoke or don't care for smoking, carrying a lighter is still a great accessory. You never know when you might need to light some romantic candles.

There's plenty to think about when you're trying to stay in style. Whether you're going on a first date or just trying to impress your boss at a company function, you'll shine if you go the extra mile to look after the details of your accessories. Always mind your manners. Polish your shoes and clean your car. Tidy up your house or apartment just in case the party isn't over and lands at your place. Always be prepared to be an exceptional host. Follow these simple steps and you'll have nothing to worry about when meeting new acquaintances.
