Best Action/ Adventure Video Games

Action adventure is my personal favorite genre of video games. They provide the most thrills in gaming and always have you on the edge of your seat. Here is my list of the best action adventure games available for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Yes, I realize a few of these are PS3 exclusives, but from my experience Sony is currently providing the better titles.

InFamous (PS3) - This is an open world, third person super hero game. You get incredible electrical powers that are unlike anything you've ever seen. With these powers you can unleash your wrath or heroism on Empire City. The best part of InFamous is the story which is told in a comic book style and sucks you in making putting the controller down near impossible. If you own a PS3 then you must have this in your collection.

Prototype (PS3/Xbox 360) - If you're looking for an out of control, military and mutant fighting super power game with blood, guts, and action, then Prototype is for you. You play as Alex Mercer who has more powers and upgrades than I've ever seen. Alex is not necessarily a hero; he just wants to destroy everything in his path with his incredible speed, agility, and power. Prototype is not a perfect game, but it is probably the most fun I've ever had playing a game.

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots (PS3) - MGS4 is the standard in gaming for any genre. This is a stealth action game that's accompanied by a fantastic story told in long (and I mean long) cinematic cut scenes. Every part of the game can be played in different styles. This gives players the ability to play how they want when they want, as well as add great replay value to the game.

Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3/Xbox 360) - We all know about the GTA series and what it's all about. You get a great story, lots of action, and a huge open world to explore. Grand Theft Auto has been the leader of open world games in the past and even with InFamous and Prototype having strong showings, GTAIV brings the complete action adventure experience.

Uncharted: Drake's Fortune (PS3) - You play Uncharted as a treasure hunter named Drake. Drake has both charm and humor in his dialogue, which helps bring the story to life. Uncharted is a third person shooter that's accompanied by plat-forming and puzzles. This game is also one of the most beautiful console games ever made making it a must have for any PS3 owner. Uncharted 2 comes out fall 09' and you'll surely want to play Drake's Fortune first to get the full experience.

Assassin's Creed (PS3/Xbox 360) - This stunning game sends you back in time to fight as an assassin. You go around killing different people in a fairly repetitive notion. Yes, this game is repetitive, but I think it's still an experience that should be played because the story is intriguing and the fighting and stealth are still fun. Assassin's Creed 2 comes out late 2009, so be sure to check this one out first if you're one of the few who haven't.
