Ten Years of Explosions, Ninjas and Heroes

Gerard Butler never fails to deliver, and this 2009 film was no different. Coupled with explosions and plenty of combat, Michael C. Hall's creepy-beyond-belief portrayal of the villain also contributes greatly to this film's pure awesomeness.

9. The Bourne Identity

Matt Damon proves that he can do a lot better than Pearl Harbor as he runs around Europe as an amnesiac killing machine being pursued both by terrorists and the CIA. Fantastic fight scenes and tension thick enough to asphyxiate audiences, the acting is phenomenal, and talented German actress Franka Potente definitely doesn't hurt.

8. Casino Royale

It wasn't the Bond that we've all been used to. The camp and light-heartedness is gone, and our darling James is now blond and blue-eyed. This remake of the 1967 film takes the Bond we all know and makes him human, scary, and by far the best one yet.

7. 300

Another Gerard Butler film. It was bloody, it was gory, it was epic. Need any more be said?

6. Transformers

Michael Bay took our childhood giant alien robots with and made them fight each other, throwing in Shia LaBeouf and ridiculously attractive Megan Fox for good measure.

5. Taken

Liam Neeson pulls a Bond of his own and tracks his kidnapped daughter across Europe and kicks the butt of a bunch of terrorists along the way. Familial devotion provided the positive message, and Liam Neeson's ninja skills gave us the rest.

4. Hulk

We were all disappointed by Fox's attempt to make a proper Hulk film, and while Marvel's reboot isn't the greatest, it made up the fail that came before and eased a lot of sore feelings.

3. Batman Begins

Just like Casino Royale, the camp is entirely gone from this version of Batman. This origins story, chock full of bad guys and Christian Bale making the Batman scarier, darker, and cooler than we ever imagined he could be.

2. Iron Man

Possibly Marvel's new poster boy, Tony Stark is the irresponsible alcoholic playboy who grows a conscience and becomes Iron Man, leaving war profiteering in order to defend the US against terrorists and the like.

1. Sin City

Possibly the best cinematography seen all decade, Sin City changes the way that people see graphic novel-based films. No superheroes, no super-powers, just human beings and the dark sides they hide.
