Best After Christmas Bargains, Sales in Washington, D.C.

Last year was my first Christmas in DC and the day after I spent hours upon hours shopping in Georgetown. I knew that there would be many sales, but I was definitely shocked by the amazing bargains I found on M street.

My personal favorite store for after Christmas bargains is without a doubt the Paper Source. Here you can find high-quality (and oh so adorable) blank holiday cards, wrapping paper, ribbons and gift boxes all on sale. Of course the sale is usually exclusive to holiday items, but there is no greater time to stock up on wrapping essentials than the day after Christmas.

I have never been disappointed with the quality that the Paper Source offers, and I use their holiday items for more than just sending out cards and wrapping items. Individuals that like to scrapbook can use their high-quality papers and ribbons to make beautiful holiday layouts to remember the festive events that occurred from year to year. Additionally usually the Paper Source will have some additional sales on non-holiday items. The bargains wont be as great as the holiday stuff, but if you are willing to do a little digging and calculations in your head you can walk out of the store with some real steals.

In addition to the Paper Source, if you walk a few more blocks down M street you can find some fantastic sales in the Body Shop. Here you can stock up on your favorite holiday scents as well as many others. The Body Shop often uses this end of the year sale to clear out their inventory to make room for new 2008 arrivals, so you will find many items on sale.

Also on M street Urban Outfitters has a huge winter sale after Christmas. Urban Outfitters is usually pretty pricey, but last year I raided the sale rack and picked out some amazing clothing items all under $10. It takes some digging but it is all worth it. In addition to clothes you can find great shoes on sale too. While it can be frustrating to search through a pile of shoes to find the perfect matching pair, it is well worth if you can find say... The $150 boots that I found marked down to $19.99.

Another clothing store, American Eagle, also has some great holiday sales after Christmas. They are currently having a huge jean sale and I am sure that sale will only get better after Christmas. Additionally they will have great after Christmas bargains on their Aerie Lounge wear line. I love the Aerie pajamas and after Christmas they mark down a lot of their red and green items. My personal favorites are the girl boxer shorts and their bath robes.

The sales in Georgetown after Christmas are truly amazing. It would be hard to describe them all, so I highly recommend stopping by M street to check them all out if you are in the area. Most of the sales I have listed above apply to women, but there is something for everyone as Georgetown has a variety of stores that can appeal to men and women of all ages. Have fun shopping and while I know the sales are oh so tempting, try not to do too much damage to your plastic!
