Best Alien Abduction Movies: Fire in the Sky and Close Encounters of the Third Kind
Two Great Classic Movies Involving Alien Abduction
I'm thinking I would rather stay asleep than be awake for anything they may have planned for me.
Two of the best alien abduction movies I have ever watched are 'Fire in the Sky' and 'Close Encounters of the Third Kind'. While the latter is the work of science fiction, it was nicely done considering the year it was made. It's as much a joy to watch today as it was more than 30 years ago.
Best Alien Abduction Movies:
Fire in the Sky (1993) is based on true events surrounding the alleged alien abduction of Travis Walton. What makes this a great movie is its amazing detail, though some of it has been embellished for theatrical purposes. Some of the events in the movie were added and were not part of the original story as told by Travis Walton. Some of the events reported by Travis were left out as some of the details in his story were deemed boring. Still, the movie came together really well but I would have liked to have seen more of the aliens.
Travis Walton (D.B. Sweeney) and a crew of men had been out clearing brush in the wilderness. On their way home, they came across an object. Curious, Travis exits the truck only to be struck with a bright beam of light. The other men are terrified and, believing Travis is dead, leave the scene. One of them, Mike Rogers (Robert Patrick), returns later but finds no signs of Travis. The men report the incident, but authorities aren't buying it and believe the men killed Travis.
Travis Walton is found five days later at a gas station. He is naked, incoherent, and dehydrated. At home, he begins suffering flashbacks during a welcome home party and Lt. Watters believes his story is an elaborate hoax. It is then that we are taken aboard the alien spaceship where we see what Travis went through.
Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977) - This is a really awesome movie about UFO's and alien abduction that has, for the purposes of the movie, been going on for years judging by the appearances of the humans who come off the spaceship at the end.
Ronnie Neary (Teri Garr) must deal with her husband's (Richard Dreyfuss as Roy Neary) sudden obsession with making mountains out of mashed potatoes and shaving cream. The man appears to be losing his mind after he has a run-in with a UFO one night as he sat waiting at the railroad tracks in his pickup.
Meanwhile, Jillian Guiler prevents her son from being taken by aliens in a spaceship when he wanders outside late one night; unfortunately, they are successful in abducting him when they make their second attempt.
Roy and Jillian team up and are joined by another man when they flee a helicopter, but he passes out after being gassed and it's up to Roy and Jillian to make it up the mountain where they come up on a government operation. Before long, the airspace above them is full of little UFO's, but it's the appearance of the mother ship and a sort of dueling organs between those on the ground and the ship that is the most exciting for the group on the mountain.
If you haven't had the pleasure of watching either of these movies, what on earth are you waiting for? I highly recommend both of them and think you will be pleased.
Just be sure you keep your eyes peeled for those sneaky Grey's lest they visit you in your sleep and take you on a magic spaceship ride!

Post a CommentInteresting! I'd never heard of Fire in the Sky either, but I'll have to dig it up and find out about Travis' story. Thanks Kenzy :)
Never heard of "Fire in the Sky".
My question is, how do we know we aren't the aliens? Just wondering.... LOL I haven't seen the first one, but I did watch Close Encounters. Might have to go see if I can find the first one. It sounds interesting.
