Best April Fools Day Prank

Never Been Greener!

Micheal E. Brinkley
Two years ago was the first year that I actually took April Fools Day seriously. In the past, it had been a day that I just let pass by like any other. But, this year was going to be different. It was my senior year in High School and I knew I had to leave my mark. Nobody expected what was coming; a Senior prank and April Fools Day all rolled into one!

My High School was in a relatively small town. The school itself had no real security, thus it was relatively easy for people to do nearly anything they wanted during class times. I took the opportunity to skip out of my Physical Education class and execute my well planned out prank!

The school's water fountains were relatively easy for someone with a basic mechanical knowledge to mess around with. My plan was two fold, and was frankly, brilliant! I took the panel off as many water fountains as I could get to in a short period of time. I believe I was able to open up 8 of them without too much risk of being caught. The pressure that each fountain spouted out water was controlled by a simple dial located within the inner workings of the fountain. My first task was to turn each dial as high as I could possibly turn them. This, of course, made the water shoot about four feet into the air, and drenching whoever was attempting to take a drink. The next part of my plan changed the way the students look at the water fountains for the rest of their High School careers.

I had gone to walmart the day before the prank was supposed to take place and purchased as many packages of food coloring as I could find. Food coloring, the extremely potent dye it is, was the perfect way for me to make sure that people were wearing green for April Fools Day. I simply drenched all of the water filters in the water fountains with large amounts of green food coloring! Essentially, the water fountains created long jets of bright green water, that also happened to stain the clothes of whoever dared to use the fountains. Although I only noticed a total of four students and a teacher with green dye on their clothes and all over their faces, it was well worth the two week suspension!
