Whenever I am in the mood for some tasty Asian food, I have a couple of options available. They are both located on the Kitsap peninsula, and are conveniently located.

The oldest is China Sun Buffet, located in Port Orchard. This buffet is situated in an L-shaped shopping complex across the street from the Safeway store. The parking lot is shared with other stores, obviously, but there usually are plenty of parking spots available. Plus, they offer handicapped parking right in front of the entranceway.

The food is superb in taste (except for the cake), freshness, and quality. They have a variety of American, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine dishes available here. I have been here numerous times and have never been let down. There is a full range of foods to choose from. The salad bar is located along the wall and includes puddings, crab salad, lettuce salad, fruit salad, and sushi. They are all chilled at just the right temperature and displayed appealingly.

At the end of the salad bar is the dessert table. Here you will find almond cookies (always good!), cake (usually tasteless), bite-size cream puffs filled with whipped creme, and other sweets.

The hot food area has an immense variety. There are three islands available to choose from. The island closest to the door contains the appetizers. Food ranges from teriyaki chicken on a stick to steamed dumplings and buns.

The middle island contains the soups and other entrees. There are usually two types of soup (egg drop and wonton are the best!). I always like to put some wontons into my egg drop soup. (If you do this for a carryout, though, China Sun charges $.25 per wonton). The dim sum is served in a bamboo steamer. Besides being tasty, it is fun to open the steamer.

The third island contains the seafood, beef, vegetable, and some more chicken entrees. The coconut chicken is superb. If you go to China Sun during the dining hour, they serve crab legs. During the day, however, the baked salmon is a must-have.

What I like best about this place is the soft-serve ice cream bar. Customers can choose between vanilla, chocolate, or a swirl combination. Ice cream can be put into bowls or ice cream cones. Plus, there are usually toppings available (such as chocolate syrup).

The prices here are reasonable for all you can eat. The service has been good every time I have been here. China Sun also offers a punch card. This applies to both the lunch and dinner buffets. They are open 7 days per week.

I highly recommend China Sun Buffet to anyone in the area seeking a quality Chinese buffet. They offer take out, also.

If you are closer to East Bremerton, there is an Asian buffet known as Foodies you can go to. This place is located on Wheaton Way, in the heart of the retail area. The storefront is on Wheaton Way, but the side entrance is facing the parking lot. This buffet is also located in an L-shaped shopping center. The parking is shared with other businesses. The parking lot is huge.

The variety of food choices offered at Foodie's is comparable to China Sun Buffet, mentioned above. The interior is larger than China Sun, though. The interior set up is similar to China Sun Buffet. The prices are comparable, also. Also, take out is offered. In fact, the same people probably own the place.

North of East Bremerton is Silverdale. This retail area contains another Asian buffet known as King's Wok Buffet. It is located on the corner, up the hill from the Safeway gas pumps.

The food variety and quality here is good, almost the same as the China Sun Buffet mentioned above. The interior has the same set-up. The prices are comparable, also. The only drawback to this place is the extremely limited parking. The lot here is hard to maneuver around in and frustrating. The parking spots are not large, either.

The parking situation at King's Wok Buffet is the only reason I do not go here more often. I do not enjoy fighting for a parking space prior to eating. Plus, this place usually has waiting lines.

King's Wok Buffet is located at 9960 Silverdale Way, Silverdale, WA. 98383. Or, call them at 360-337-2512. They offer take-out.
