Best Athlete Cameos in Movies

Throughout the course of movie history many athletes have made appearances in movies. Here is a look at ten of the most memorable appearances by atheltes in a major motion picture.

Mike Tyson - The Hangover (2009) Mike Tyson plays himself in the this comedy about a bachelor party gone awry in Las Vegas. Tyson packs I mean punch in the movie and also proves he can play a mean set of air drums when he listens to a little Phil Collins.

Mike Ditka - Kicking and Screaming (2005). The former Chicago Bear head coach plays himself in this comedy with Will Ferrell. Ditka decides to help Will Ferrell's character Phil Weston coach his son's pee wee soccer team. Ditka goes toe to toe with Ferrell in many hilarious scenes.

Kareem Abdul-Jabber -Airplane! (1980) - Jabber plays co-pilot Roger Murdoch in this famous spoof of airplane disaster movies. But the best scene occurs when Jabber breaks out of his character and actually becomes the basketball legend when a kid questions his work ethic on the basketball court.

Can Neely - Dumb and Dumber (1994). The former Boston Bruin plays Sea Bass a truck driver who bullies Harry (Jeff Daniels) and Lloyd (Jim Carrey) at a Pennsylvania truck stop.

Hulk Hogan - Rocky III (1982). Hulk Hogan plays Thunder lips a professional wrestle who battles Rocky in a charity match. Rocky thinks it's a show but Thunder lips has different ideas.

Brett Favre - There's Something About Mary (1998). Brett Favre plays himself and Cameron Diaz's former boyfreiend in this Farelly Brothers comedy.

Shaquille O'Neal - Blue Chips (1994). O'Neal plays Neon an unknown basketball prospect recruited by Nick Nolte in this movie that highlights the dirty business of college basketball recruiting. O'Neal's character appears to be smarter than most people believe him to be in this movie. Anfernee Hardaway also makes an appearance in the movie.

Roger Clemens - Cobb (1994). Roger Clemens plays a fireballing pitcher who faces Hall of Famer Ty Cobb in this biographical movie of Cobb's life. Also look for Clemens in Kingpin, another comedy from the Farelly Brothers.

Alex Karras - Blazing Saddles (1974). Former football player Karras plays Mongo a dimwitted assassin who is sent to kill the black sheriff of Rock Ridge. When the sheriff outwits Mongo, he becomes the sheriffs' new friend.

Babe Ruth - The Pride of the Yankees (1942). Babe Ruth plays himself in this biographical movie of Yankee legend Lou Gehrig.
