Best Attractions West Virginia Has to Offer
West Virginia Has Some Wonderful Attractions for People Who Just Want to Get Away for a Few Days.
Planning a trip to West Virginia does not take much time unless you live a few states away. However, if you are a bordering state to West Virginia, I say recommend you go for a day and check out what they offer.
One day my husband and I woke up and decided we were going to West Virginia spontaneously. We were glad we did; it was a fun adventure. As we drove the interstate on the way to West Virginia, it was if the mountains were getting bigger.
We live close enough that it only takes a couple of hours to get to Lewisburg West Virginia. We decided we would eat at a restaurant and return home in the same day. I had always wanted to visit West Virginia because my grandfather was raised there and I had never visited. So one day my husband up and says let's go to West Virginia. That's was the best mini vacation idea we had in a long time.
Once we arrived in West Virginia, we stopped at a rest area just off the interstate. The rest area overlooked the mountains of West Virginia and it was breathtaking. It was chilly in the mountains but that didn't stop us from enjoying the scenery.
On the way home, we decided we would be returning to West Virginia because they have some of the best attractions that are worth checking out. Here are a few attractions we discovered while visiting West Virginia and are exactly why we will be returning.
Best Attractions West Virginia Has To Offer
1- North Bend Rail Trail
North bend trail offers hiking, bicycling, equestrians and plenty of trails for hiking. However, there is one spot I want to see and that's ghost of silver run trail. As legend has it, a woman dressed in white appears in the tunnel and causes trains to stop. Once a train stops, she disappears. Apparently, no one knows who she is or where or why she appears. For more information, visit North Bend Rail Trail.
2- Twin Falls Resort State Park
Twin Falls offers year round camping with some of the best scenery you will ever find. An old farmhouse built-in the 1830s sits on the land fully restored. The waterfalls that overflow into a hole below are so calming and beautiful you won't want to leave the scene. For more information, visit Twin Falls Resort State Park.
3- New River Gorge
The new river gorge bridge carries US-19 across the new river 876 feet in the air. As you cross the bridge, there is nothing but mountains on all sides and water below. It's an undeniable ride you will never forget. Below the bridge, visitors can walk beneath to enjoy the views. By far this is the best attractions West Virginia has to offer. For more information, visit New River Gorge.
My husband and I plan to return to West Virginia to discover even more attractions.
