Sugar and spice and everything nice for a princess on the way but just throwing pink on everything will not make an impression for an expectant mother. Having a baby can be so exciting for the mother to be and every mother to be hopes for a wonderful baby shower. If this responsibility lands on your shoulders don't worry about breaking the bank or having a dull, uninteresting baby shower there are many ways to throw a shower without throwing your budget. It is easy to get carried away with cute little store bought baby shower favors but as you know those can add up quickly. Home made favors cost less and often mean more to the mother to be.

Let Your Love Grow:

Garden centers and craft stores have little 2.5 inch terra cotta pots. Buy one for each guest and a packet of seeds with pink flowers for each guest as well. Place the seed packet (you will need to roll it a bit) into the planter. Tie a pink bow around it with satin ribbon or even pink curling gift wrap ribbon will work.

About To Pop:

Mini bags of popcorn wrapped in pink ribbons with a cute tag cut from pink cardstock stating ''about to pop!" Will be a cute and inexpensive baby shower party favor.

Hugs and Kisses:

Another great baby shower favor idea is to fill a clear or pink tinted plastic cup with Hershey's kisses. Wrap it in plastic and tie it with pink curling ribbon.

It's bean great:

Using eight inch squares of pink tulle or organza and ribbon make little sachets filled with pink jelly beans. This is a very low cost, easy to make baby shower favor. Placed at each table or in a basket that guests can help themselves to when leaving the baby shower.

Anchors Away:

A sweet baby shower favor idea for a baby girl is to fold little boats from pink paper, add a toothpick or cut straw with a triangle flag on it. Fill it with white lifesavers candy.

Confucius says:

Make your own fortune cookies with fortunes written by you on pink paper. Once the cookies are done and cooled dip them into melted cherry bark. Low cost and unique with endless possibilities! Have each guest read their ''fortune'' but they have to add ''while diapering the baby'' or some such phrase at the end.

Lifesaver Pacifier:

Using white lifesavers and a white Good-n-Plenty and a bit of white frosting to hold it together. Hold one lifesaver and put a dab of frosting on the edge, put that edge against the hole of the other lifesaver. Stick the white Good-n-Plenty in the hole and tie a bit of curling ribbon through the hole of the first Lifesaver so it looks like the handle of the pacifier. I had these at my shower and they were adorable!

Whatever favors you choose to have at your shower the most important thing to have is a good time!
