Perhaps the most important criteria to consider, excluding cleanliness (hey I am a country boy and cleanliness is next to, well you get the analogy), is the variety of drinks offered at the bar. This is important because even though I am from the south and nothing quenches my thirst like a cold American beer, I may what to explore my exotic side of beer. In addition to the lighter sides of spirits, nothing is makes a bar's wall more aesthetically appeasing than seeing the numerous bottles of boos in reach of the most important person in the entire bar. No and I am not talking about the bathroom attendant for you uppity bar hoppers, I am talking about the bar tender.
Nothing upsets me more at the bar than to ask the bar tender to make me a drink and the response is what that is." Hey, let's be honest, how hard is to make a Yeager bomb or Long Island Ice Tea. In order for the bar to have a chance at being considered for a visit during a night of hopping, the bar tender has to be a person that has the ability to pour drinks, listen to and sort out problems without missing a beat. Demanding, well I would have to say yes, but that is the price for being a poor man's psychologist.
Last in the quick assessment of criteria of deciding what are the best bars are the prices. Keeping all things with the very lingering recession in mind, the term getting more bang for your buck has never been more true. While it is to be expected that the bar prices will be a bit more pricier than your local package store, one should not have to end the night washing dishes in order to avoid any problems with security. Remember if the prices are right the customers will come back (this statement rhymes if spoken in the southern dialect).
Here is a list of the top 10 bars (listed from best to worst) worth visiting on a long night of clearing one's mind and getting some much needed arm exercises:
1. Club Chill
2. Crow Bar
3. Gumby's
4. Mellow Mushroom
5. Sandtrap Bar and Lounge
6. Yesterday's Bar and Lounge
7. America Legion
8. House of Jazz
9. Triple Diamond
