Best Bars in Bloomington, Indiana

Looking for a good place to watch the game or meet up with friends? Bloomington, Indiana, home to Indiana University, has a wide variety of bars and pubs that are great for any occasion.

Bear's Place, located right in the center of IU campus on E. 3rd Street, is always a sure bet for good food and good times. Every weekend hosts the Comedy Caravan with local and well-known comedians, karaoke, and live music. They offer a reasonably-priced full menu, including burgers, nachos, and wings, and have a variety of wine and spirits. Try their famous Hairy Bear, six shots of liquor mixed with fruit juices. Most nights there is a small cover charge, but it's never more than seven bucks and the entertainment is well worth it.

For more live music and great dancing, try the Player's Pub. From bluegrass to rock to country, listen to bands from Bloomington, as well as from surrounding cities every night of the week. Relax in their game room, which hosts a totally free regulation-size pool table and big screen TV. They have a variety of wine and beer, as well as a full menu. The friendly, laid-back atmosphere makes it a perfect place to spend a night out. Located at 424 S. Walnut Street downtown, they are open from 4pm-12 midnight Monday through Sunday. On Sundays, join them for their weekly brunch. Featuring live acoustic music, brunch is served from 11am-3pm.

Grab a table on the front patio at the Crazy Horse Food and Drink Emporium. Located at 214 W. Kirkwood, the historic building houses a great wooden bar. Voted Bloomington's Best Bar selection, they offer 175 spirits and more than 80 brands of beer. Live bands play on Sundays and their big screen TV is great for watching the game. Join them during the weekday happy hour every evening from 4-7pm and enjoy free munchies and specials on tall draft beer. Try a flavored martini...you won't be sorry. Or, if you're feeling up to it, join the "around the world in 80 beers" club.

These are only a few of the great bars that Bloomington, Indiana has to offer. A small college town with a cultural feel, you can find great music at virtually any bar in town. Most of the them offer a variety of spirits and great menus at affordable prices. The fun and friendly atmospheres are sure to make you a regular in no time.
