If you are a 30 something looking for a great meal, a unique experience or just a place to let loose, check out one of the following places. Here's a list of some of the best places to visit in Buffalo if you want to have a good time without running into the 21 year old crowd.
Mothers Restaurant
Located on Virginia Pl. in Allentown, Mothers is the perfect place to have a drink at the bar or to sit down at an elegant meal. From the outside Mothers looks like any other dive bar, but once you walk through the door, the atmosphere will have you returning again and again. The intimacy of the restaurant is complimented well by their covered patio that is perfect for a late dinner on a summer night. Dress code is semi casual. You'll see a lot of business suits but jeans and a nice shirt are perfectly acceptable. Mothers has a very affordable wine list and a menu that offers American cuisine featuring many seafood dishes as well as more eclectic dishes like lamb and duck; they also have specials that change daily. From appetizers to dessert you are sure to be satisfied. Kitchen is open until 3am daily so this is the perfect place for a late night romantic dinner.

Scarlet
Located directly across the street from Mothers, Scarlet is the newest bar/restaurant to hit Virginia Pl. While Scarlet is more of a bar than a restaurant, having a meal there is still highly recommended. The bar area is on the first floor and a beautiful wooden staircase takes you up to the second floor where a loft style eating area is set up. The wine list is extensive, as is the martini list. The food is a bit more expensive than Mothers (expect to pay around $25 and up for an entrée) but they also have burgers and sandwiches you can choose from that won't be as hard on the wallet. When you are done enjoying a lavish meal you can go downstairs and enjoy the music and ambiance that is Scarlet. Dress is semi casual; again jeans are more than acceptable.

The Stillwater
Located on Delaware Ave near Virginia St., Stillwater is upscale dining at its best. Walk in the door and you are instantly in an alley, surrounded by brick buildings and if you look straight up, you can see the stars. Stillwater is the perfect place no matter what is in store for the evening. Stop in and enjoy a few cocktails at the bar, stay for an elegant meal and afterwards, enjoy live music and a dance floor. Stillwater is bar, restaurant and night club all combined into one. Dress code is dressy to semi-casual. Jeans can be worn but no sneakers. In the summer enjoy the warm weather on their spacious patio that looks out onto Virginia Pl. The wine list is extensive and the food is a bit on the expensive side (expect to pay in upwards of $30 for an entrée) but the experience is well worth it. If you call early enough for reservations, you could be one of the lucky few to reserve a table near the second story fireplace that looks out onto the bar and dance floor area below (make sure to request this).
