Best Bars to Watch Philadelphia Eagles in New York

Y! Eric
If you are looking for a bar somewhere in Manhattan to catch the Philadelphia Eagles game with other Eagles fans, then this article will help you out. I have listed a few spots where NYC Eagles fans gather to watch the game. Here are reviews of three places in New York to watch the game....3 Sheets Saloon, Wogies, and Shorty's.

3 SHEETS SALOON (Formerly TOWN TAVERN) - 134 West Third Street, A,C,E,B,D,F,V to West 4th Street

I watched the 2009 NFC Semifinal at Town Tavern. It's much bigger than any of the other NYC Eagles Bars. Since it is right near NYU, it is a very fratty bar during the week, but on Sunday it is filled with Eagles fans only. You need to make a reservation in advance if you want a table, but tons of people stand as well. I suggest making a reservation a week or more in advance, and getting to the bar at least 1 hour before kickoff. This place is crowded, but a great atmosphere. They play "Fly, Eagles, Fly" after every touchdown/field goal in the downstairs section. It is both packed upstairs and downstairs with Eagles fans....They serve $5 cheesesteaks and $8 pitchers of beer on gameday. They actually ran out of draft beer by the end of the 4th quarter so drink early. The cheesesteaks were decent.

WOGIES - 33 Greenwich Avenue

This is the only bar in NYC that I know is specifically a Philadelphia bar. It's a decent place that serves authentic style cheesesteaks. The downside is that is very small and is very packed on gameday....you have to get there early to get a seat. They play "Fly, Eagles, Fly" after every good play/touchdown/for fun.

SHORTY's - 576 9th Avenue

Definitely go to Shortys on 9th Avenue (41/42). This place is very unassuming, not frat party like, but not trendy or trying to be something it's not. It serves great cheesesteaks and other food. Their food is as authentic as it gets - from the thinly sliced sirloin they use for their steaks to the deliciously seasoned Italian roast pork. They stay true to their roots and serve all of their sandwiches on an Italian hoagie roll that is shipped directly from the city of brotherly love. Good flowing beer and great atmosphere. The owners are philly based so they cater to the Eagles crowd.

OTHER EAGLES BARS

I heard Black Finn, and Merrion Square are Eagles Bar but I have never been....

I currently work at Town Tavern and i would like to up date the status of the specials for 2009.
It is recommended make a reservation in advance if you want a table, please email: Kat towntaverneagles@gmail.com. She will help you with the reservation and seating for the game. There is tons of room for those of you who don't mind standing. I suggest making a reservation a week or more in advance, and getting to the bar at least 1 hour before kickoff. This place gets crowded, but a great atmosphere.
