To list the best of Beethoven is not an easy task! Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn in 1770. He was an amazing classical composer with works ranging from great symphonies to solo works for various instruments. Beethoven himself did not plan to become a famous composer; rather he was more interested in study and performance. His goal was to master counterpoint, but with his natural gift for music coupled with excellent teachers he became one of the greatest composers who ever lived.

Despite the fact that he was going deaf in his twenties, he continued to compose and excel in music. His hearing loss eventually affected both his personal life and his career. He often misunderstood facial expressions of friends and family which led Beethoven to needless anger and accusations. He had a severe ringing in his ears which greatly affected his appreciation for music. He was so overwrought with his condition that he contemplated suicide, and then later resolved to live through and for his art.

Some of the best of Beethoven's music are pieces that are recognized by everyone.
