Oklahoma -6 over West Virginia
Oklahoma is one of the best teams in the country and barring a second-half collapse to the Colorado Buffaloes they would be playing for the National Championship.
Not only this, but Oklahoma will be able to take advantage of the weaknesses in the secondary of the West Virginia offense. Oklahoma has a balanced attack, but their air game has become their best weapon, with Sam Bradford leading the charge.
West Virginia seems to come up short in big games, look at their games versus Louisville, South Florida and their last few times in the BCS stage, they have not faired well.
On the other hand, Oklahoma was embarrassed last year when they lost to non-BCS Boise State in one of the greatest college football games of all time. They will not allow themselves to be embarrassed again this season and they will not take this game lightly.
LSU -6 over Ohio State
Did you see the National Title game last season? Ohio State undefeated and favored by a touchdown and they were thoroughly trounced by a team from the SEC, the Florida Gators.
While Ohio State is not favored this season, they are still playing a powerhouse team from the SEC and possibly the best team in the country right now.
The Big Ten is just not as good as it has been in past seasons and it is showing. Ohio State looked like the inevitable champions last season, but they got blown out. The SEC is a far superior conference this year and it will play out in this game. LSU will win, and it will not even be close.
Virginia Tech -4.5 over Kansas
Virginia Tech is in a similar boat as Oklahoma. If they had not lost to Boston College, letting BC come back with 14 points in the final 2 minutes, they would be playing for a National Title.
With that being said, Kansas is one of the biggest surprise teams this season, being ranked number 1 for a week and finishing with a record of 11-1, but they could not even play for a conference championship.
Kansas is a newcomer to the BCS stage and Virginia Tech is anything but. Tech is playing in one of its many BCS games while Kansas will be threatened by the bright lights and the immense coverage that comes with a game like this. Don't forget that Kansas's one game in the spotlight this year, the one against Missouri for the Big 12 North, was a disaster for the then number 1 ranked Jayhawks.
Virginia Tech's defense will be one unlike the Jayhawks are used to and the special teams of the Hokies will be more than the difference maker.
USC -14.5 over Illinois
USC is playing some of the best football they have all season right now and Ron Zook's Fighting Illini will be no match for the Trojans.
If not for a loss to the Stanford Cardinal, the Trojans would most certainly be playing for a National Title, but that is in the past, and USC will be looking to prove that they are still one of the best teams in college football.
USC has superior talent on both sides of the ball and they will be rested and ready for this game. USC will not overlook the Illini as they play an almost home game in Pasedena, a place that they have grown accustomed to playing over the last decade.
With all the picks made it is time for me to remind you that these are merely the best plays on the board as I see them and they are not guaranteed winners, nothing is guaranteed. I hope you have fun with these NCAA Football selections and good luck this weekend. Post a CommentWest Virginia = CHOKE. Nobody can deny that. Why aren't they in the BCS Championship? They choked to Pittsburgh. Don't deny facts my friends.
Dude--what are you talking about re. West Virginia performing poorly on the "BCS stage?" They have played only one BCS game, versus Georgia in the 2006 Suger Bowl, and they won.
